Saeed Al-Owairan (also spelt Owairan; Template:Lang-ar; born 19 August 1967) is a former Saudi Arabian international footballer. He played for the Saudi national team at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the USA, in which he scored the goal that was later voted the 6th best in FIFA's Goal of the Century rankings.[1] The match was against Belgium, and earned him the nickname "The Maradona of the Arabs". FIFA has selected Saeed Owairan among the top 22 players in the World Cup 1994.

Owairan was suspended for a year for drinking which broke Saudi law.[2]

Overall, he scored 24 goals in 50 international matches and also competed in the 1998 FIFA World Cup.[3] Due to the Saudi regulation stipulating that Saudi nationals may not play abroad, Owairan played his entire career for Al-Shabab, a Saudi club based in Riyadh.[citation needed]
