Welcome Message

Welcome to my user page, I'm 33 and I live in Appleton, WI and I'm a technical writer for a financial firm in New York City. I love writing and have many hobbies.

Mauritius kestrel
The Mauritius kestrel (Falco punctatus) is a bird of prey from the family Falconidae endemic to the forests of Mauritius, where it is restricted to the southwestern plateau's forests, cliffs, and ravines. It colonized the island and evolved into a distinct species from other Indian Ocean kestrels, probably during the Gelasian or Early Pleistocene periods. The Mauritius kestrel can reach a size between 26 and 30.5 cm (10.2 and 12.0 in), with a mass of up to 250 g (8.8 oz) and rounded wings with a span of approximately 45 cm (18 in). Males are slightly smaller than the females. It is a carnivorous bird, eating geckos, dragonflies, cicadas, cockroaches, crickets, and small birds. It hunts by means of short, swift flights through the forests. This Mauritius kestrel was photographed in the Ebony Forest reserve near Chamarel, Mauritius.Photograph credit: Charles J. Sharp

Biography

I was born on May 4, 1973 in York, Pennsylvania. I was raised in the York area and moved to the Poconos, PA in 1985 at 12 years old. I played trumpet in high school and many music idols, some of who I played with are Louis Armstrong, Clark Terry, Phil Woods, Al Cohn, Al Jarreau, Miles Davis and Urbie Green (whose boys went to school with me). Throughout high school I had many hobbies including running a BBS, playing tennis, and basketball.

After high school, I joined the United States Army on Halloween morning, 1991. I served at Ft. Bliss, and have been to Ft. Irwin, and Kuwait (Gulf War). I was a 19D Cavalry Scout. I served in K Troop 3/3 ACR for my entire enlistment. I was honorably discharged from the Army in 1994, serving my 3 years and was a Specialist (rank) at that time.

I eventually went into a career as a PC technician and supported many schools and businesses in the Eastern Pennsylvania area. I burnt out fairly quickly and went into Technical Writing and have been doing this for 10 years in the NYC area.

I'm also a follower of the Atkins Nutritional Approach and run the site Atkins All The Way to provide support for Atkins dieters. It is a wonderful community and full of great people that I care about.

I moved to Appleton, Wisconsin last May and live with my girlfriend and her kids. At this time, I work from home for the same company I was working at when I left NYC.
