Synopsis

For a kid, life can be a daily battle. There are adults, siblings, teachers and rivals telling you what to do, what not to do, what to say, and blah blah blah… …well it‟s time for us kids to take control! I‟m here to show you the way. Sure I have an annoying kid brother, a big sister who gets to do just about anything, and two parents who boss me around… …But to me, they‟re all just my guinea pigs who unwittingly help me craft my theories. I observe and then come up with elaborate strategies to wheedle, sweet-talk, con, and work around any adversary. Luckily, my friends Lola and Sherwood are here to help me!

Characters

Angelo is an 11-year old kid who concocts elaborate schemes and strategies to help himself get what he feels he deserves, or what he thinks his friends deserve. He’s a stop-at-nothing kind of guy, undaunted by any obstacle put in his way. The bigger the challenge, the bigger the plan. Angelo thinks he knows what makes people tick and uses this knowledge to his advantage. “Angelo’s wisdom” is often the basis of his strategies like: Dads have insane pride in their car. Moms love anything that’s “on sale." Teen boys need to look macho in front of teen girls. Angelo is supremely confident and if he doesn’t find the perfect solution to a problem right away, he’ll improvise. Usually, Angelo finds a way to win in the end and often it’s with a couple of uncalculated side effects. But Angelo’s attitude is positive – it was all worth it. Angelo’s only weakness is that, as 11-year olds do, he often thinks in the short term and doesn’t consider the long term consequences of his actions.

Lola is the 12-year old cool and upbeat girl next door. She’s Angelo’s oldest friend, they’ve known each other their whole lives. They are practically related. Lola almost never says “no” to one of Angelo’s far-fetched plans. In fact, she delights in a challenge. She’s the fuel to Angelo’s fire. She can spur him on to do something that Sherwood might say is a bad idea. Lola is the only one in the group with a cell phone, which is integral in several of their plans. She’s good with putting on voices and can play anything from a store clerk to radio newscaster to health inspector to automated operator to Sherwood’s mom.

Sherwood is Angelo’s best friend and his most intellectual classmate. Sherwood can be skeptical of Angelo’s plans. Often, he’s the one to point out the possible logic flaws or potential problem with logistics. But once he’s convinced, Sherwood feeds off of Angelo and Lola’s infectious enthusiasm. Sherwood’s parents are pretty overprotective, so hanging out with Angelo means he can let loose a little and enjoy some needed freedom, excitement, and danger.

Mum & Dad : Angelo’s Mom is the main decision-maker in the family. She’s in charge of the operational workings of the home/family (schedules, duties, rules) which can be overwhelming at times. Mom constantly tries to maintain balance and peace between the kids. Angelo takes full advantage of the chaos at times surrounding Mom. He knows, for example, that when Mom’s cooking dinner and on the phone, she’s so crazed that it’s the prefect time to have her sign a fake “sick note” excusing him from school the next day. Whereas mom wears the pants in the family, Dad is more malleable. He has a boyish immaturity and has been known to stoop to Angelo’s level and argue about what to watch on TV. There’s a strong father/son bond between Angelo and Dad, even when Angelo gets in trouble. Mom’s natural authority over her kids sometimes extends to Dad, making him look somewhat like her fourth kid. But Dad and Mom form a loving couple all the same.

Elena is Angelo’s trendy but very annoying 15-year old sister. Since she was the first born kid she expects the other do whatever she says. They don’t.

Peter is Angelo's 5 years old brother and he acts it. Peter literally bounces around the house like a chimpanzee pretending to be anything from a grunting caveman to the latest superhero. He often pulls out the “baby” card to get his way.

Joe Momma is the family cat Mr.Foot is Angelo’s high minded stick-in-the-mud teacher at school Hunter is the local teenage hunk (and obstacle) who works at Adventureparkland, the local adventure themed amusement park Manetti is the bully in Angelo’s class who has been held back so many times no one knows how old he really is. His fists are faster than his brain.
