John Wald was an Australian footballer who played for the Port Adelaide Football Club.[2] Born in Scotland he was brought to Australia by his parents. His father John Firth Wald ran a jewelry and watchmaking business in Adelaide. John Wald captained the club during its first ever game on 24 May 1870 played at Buck's Flat, part of John Hart's Glanville Estate, against the 'Young Australians' with the game ending in a draw[3].
