B4.Da.$$ (stylized B4.DA.$$ and pronounced Before Da Money) is the debut studio album by Joey Bada$$, scheduled to be released on January 20, 2015, his 20th birthday.
Recording and production
Producers who contributed on this album include fellow Pro Era members, Kirk Knight and Chuck Strangers, as well as Statik Selektah, DJ Premier, Hit-Boy, J Dilla, Samiyam, Basquiat, Freddie Joachim, and Lee Bannon.[1]
Singles
The first single from this album, titled "Big Dusty", was released on August 8, 2014.[2] On September 30, he released the second single titled "Christ Conscious". The third single from the album entitled "No. 99" was released on December 9th.[3] On December 23, the fourth single, "Curry Chicken" was released.[4] On December 30 soon after, the fifth single "On & On" was released.[5]
Release and promotion
Badass presented music audiences with the first taste of B4.Da.$$ In August 2014, while appearing on London radio station Capital Xtra with Tim Westwood, where he previewed his lead singles "Big Dusty" and "Christ Conscious" The album was originally set for a 2013 release, but Joey pushed back the album months earlier, stating; "I'm not ready to put out my debut album, there's more respect I gotta earn first!" The album was also featured on Billboard's list of 30 Most Anticipated Albums of 2015.[6]
Prior to the release, on January 13th, "Like Me" was performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
The cover art and direction were designed by artist Tony Whilgn.
