Mateo Leal de Ayala (1560-1627) was a Spanish noblemen, Alguazil Mayor, Alcalde,[1] Lieutenant Governor and Governor of Buenos Aires between 1613-1615.[2]

Biography

Born in Madrid, Ayala was the son of Isidro Leal and Rosa de Medina.[3] Ayala had married in the city of Potosi with María Magdalena de Aguilar.[4] In early seventeenth century, Ayala arrived at Buenos Aires from the Peru. Ayala acquired a large estate of 500 rods in area of Pago de la Matanza.[5]
