Neenyo has received widespread acclaim for his production style.

Life and career

Neenyo was born and raised in the Toronto suburb of Mississauga. His elder brother used to Djing at clubs and uncle was a radio DJ. Following them, he began Djing at home during his adolescent years when mix-tapes were becoming popular. He made a number of electronic-infused R&B under the tutelage of his brother.

Neenyo and PartyNextDoor grew up in the same neighborhood where they used to hang out, share their ideas and thoughts about music. In 20XX Neeyo settled in Toronto and started working at OVO's SOTA Studios where he worked with various hiphop artists. Having produced for Lloyd Banks' "Gang Green Season" and Dipset's "I’m Reloaded" in his early career, helped him entering into the American market. He later went to produce Drake on his Comeback Season mixtape and make beats for many more, including Fabolous, Grafh, Red Café, Woodhands and Jadakiss. In 2009 Jadakiss's The Last Kiss album which he produced ranked #1 on Billboard. [2] Since then, he has had the opportunity to work with Trife Diesel, Mickey Factz, Bobby Valentino, Freck Billionaire, The Lox, Big Page, Collie Buddz and others. In 2015, Neenyo produced another song titled “Plastic Bag” for Drake's mixtapes What a Time to Be Alive. In the year, He also produced a mixtape along with BEVSTMODE for i-D Magazine. [3]

Neenyo works together with PARTYNEXTDOOR and collaborated with two studio albums PartyNextDoor Two and PartyNextDoor 3. [4] In P2, he produced two songs titled "Sex on the Beach" and "Grown Woman". And in other album his produced tracks are "You've Been Missed", "Transparency" and "Don't Know How". Both albums were released uunder the label of OVO Sound. He has also produced mixtapes for the latest installment of HYPETRAK’s ongoing mix series, featuring artists including PARTYNEXTDOOR, himself, C Y G N, Honey Cocaine, Jordan Bratton, Lil Netzero and others. [5][6]

In March 2016, Neenyo collaborated with Canadian designer Mikhael Kale, creating and mixing an exclusive music to play during the runway for his fall-winter show in Toronto Fashion Week. [7][8]

Music and production style

Neenyo chiefly produces songs in the R&B and hip hop genre. He describes his style as “Creating music off of emotions". In an interview given to Vice magazine, he mentions, "I don't think there's a song that I don't make an emotion out of because that's my whole goal for every song I do" [1]

Neenyo has cited numerous influences on his music, including 2pac, Michael Jackson, Jagged Edge and Jodeci. [1]
