MJ Gallery at Ponte 16 (MJ Gallery, simplified Chinese: 十六浦米高积逊珍品廊; traditional Chinese: 十六浦米高積遜珍品廊) is located at the second floor of the Ponte 16, Ponte 12A - 20, Rua das Lorchas e Rua do Visconde Paço de Arcos, Macau. It is the first in Asia and the second permanent exhibition venue in the world with the theme of Michael Jackson.
History
Hoffman Ma Ho Man, the Executive Director and Deputy Chairman of Success Universe Group Limited spent 350 thousands United States dollar auctioned a crystal glove that wore by Michael Jackson which performed in a TV special performance at the 25 anniversary of Motown in 1983 during a auction by Julien's Auctions on November 22, 2009 in Times Square, New York City, United States[2][3][4]. In addition, he also auctioned 10 items such as the Music recording sales certification by the Recording Industry Association of America which signed by Michael Jackson.[5][6][7] There were totally more than 40 items related with Michael Jackson, including with the auctioned were going to exhibit in Ponte 16.[7][8]
The MJ Gallery at Ponte 16 was officially opened by Cheong U (Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of Macau), Costa Antunes (Director of Macau Government Tourism Office ) and Ambrose So (Chairmen of the Ponte 16) and it is the first in Asia and the second permanent exhibition venue in the world with the theme of Michael Jackson.[9][10][11] In addition, there was a gift which is an imitation of crystal gloves and gloves which was made of beads and gauze.[12]
Facilities
The MJ Gallery at Ponte 16 is divided into four sections wich are Time Tunnel, Main Exhibition Hall, Billie Jean Setting and the Ponte 16 Gift Gallery that covers more than 4,000 square meters and accommodates approximately 200 people per hour.[13][14]
- Time Tunnel (時光隧道): it uses "MJ, The King of Pop" as the porch, with Michael Jackson by the Jackson 5 (The Jackson 5) as the first stop to start showing his performing arts.[9][14]
- Main Exhibition Hall (主要展區): it uses Neverland Ranch, We Are the World, Thriller (Michael Jackson album) artworks and albums as the theme to exhibit the albums series and Michael Jackson's performance.[9]
- Billie Jean Setting (Billie Jean佈景): It showing the scene of the music video of the song Thriller (song) to showing the CD covers of Michael Jackson, suit of Men in Black II etc.[7][14]
- Ponte 16 Gift Gallery (十六浦禮品廊): it is the are for gift and souvenir selling with the theme of Michael Jackson.[9][14]
