No problem, it's an easy to make mistake, and you've motivated me to look up the correct number. -- Eugene van der Pijll 19:45, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Wow! From 9000 down to 10. That was quite a drop! Good searching Lsjzl 20:08, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Apologies but I've reverted your citation request for the above. It's just a stub right now but the citation was in line with the text ie. Nikolaus Pevsner's Pioneers of modern design. Hope this is ok.--Mcginnly 19:14, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
- Pas de probleme Mcginnly! C'est tres bien! No, it's cool, I made a mistake by not checking closer! Thanks for being on top of it. Lsjzl 11:44, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
Indonesian Mujahedeen Council
I was just putting the citation on the talk page.Hypnosadist 13:26, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yup! Caught that, I added one of the links as a source where I put the fact tag! Thanks Lsjzl 13:27, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
I learned something today...
On the VALIS(Band) member related wikisites you showed me something I was searching for. The notability tag vs. the speedy delete (db) one. Sometimes I think it should be db rather than AfD but here now is another way to give a bit more time when it seems appropriate. Thanks! Lsjzl 20:36, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your kind words! I am glad that someone can learn something from my actions as an admin. If you want to see more useful tags for reviewing new articles, please look at Wikipedia:Template messages for a host of useful ideas and information. Wanted to let you know...
Thank you for spotting the "TPOV" anon's handiwork and handling it -- and I haven't forgotten about checking that Melton reference, it's just going to be a bit of time before I can get to the library where they have that edition of that book. Depending on how things go, I might get a chance this weekend or just after. -- Antaeus Feldspar 23:28, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
- Hey thanks Antaeus. I left a note on the TWI talk page about the groups other un-official name. Just as an aside here, I never knew we were officially The Way International. I always thought it was The Way Ministry up until about 10 years ago. Here in Canada it's The Way Ministry of Canada officially for instance. Lsjzl 02:28, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry -- the research trip was a bust. The library officially has that book. When I went to get it, it wasn't on the shelves; they make you fill out a form and then they go and get it and bring it to you. Well, when they brought it, what they brought wasn't the book but the supplement to the third edition. I'm supposed to call Monday and maybe by then they might have found it. -- Antaeus Feldspar 22:25, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- Update: they couldn't find it. Grrr, frustrating. I can try to find other libraries (maybe one of the other editions of the book will have the same information) but getting there could be a problem for me. -- Antaeus Feldspar 17:30, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know all this Antaeus, I really appreciate it the updates! Lsjzl 02:50, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Bantu Men's Social Centre Query
In response to your question, I have come across some possible links between the YMCA and the Bantu Men's Social Centre: a. the Jan H. Hofmeyr School of Social Work for black Africans was housed in the Social Centre building between 1941 and 1947; b. Max Yergan, and African-American who organized on behalf of the YMCA in South Africa, had envisioned such training for black Africans in 1932; c. a building constructed under Yergan's initiative at Fort Hare was sold and the funds used for the Jan H. Hofmeyr School of Social Work; d. the School was initially started to train social workers for the YMCA. See Alan Cobley's book in the reference section of the article for detail.
- Thanks Doc. I found a personal feel for South African history (sad to say but it was) after I visisted Cape Town and the surrounding areas last year. My fiancé is from the DRC but has family there whom we stayed with. Her uncle works as a Doctor around the Mitchell's Plain area... it was an experience in so many different ways to be there. We're going back in January for a traditional wedding. (after getting married in Sept this year in Toronto) Then going to the DRCongo for about a month or so. Enough little bio stuff, just that it really sparked an interest. Thanks for responding! Lsjzl 16:44, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Subst
Hi, I saw you welcoming User:Shakim67. I'm just reminding you that "subst:" should be used on most templates for user talk pages, especially welcome templates. If the user doesn't see that they got a canned welcome message they'll probably feel more welcome. Thanks! --Grace 21:51, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- I tried to add this to previous ones.. will try and remember in the future. Lsjzl 22:41, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Cosmo Wilson Page
Hi Lsjzl, I saw that you had flagged the Cosmo Wilson page. I am trying to input info onto it to the best I can, and hopefully making forward progress. Please let me know your thoughts, and what direction I should go in. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmokazi (talk • contribs) 15:04, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
- Cosmo, nice page, nice work history too! No issues here. Lsjzl 20:54, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, Lsjzl! I really appreciate the help and kudos!
Re: Rosalie F. Rivenbark
I added that comment as I was looking through Category:Cult leaders because there is a discussion about putting Ayn Rand in, who is accused more of having a cult of personality with devoted followers than anything approaching the other people in the list. I mention this because it is a matter of putting someone in who is an alleged cult leader. However, this is not similar to the case of Rivenbark, as even the sources that allege Ayn Rand as being involved with a cult, are referring to a cult of personality with devoted followers, not anything religious.
Therefore, I looked through all of the other entries in that category, and most of them are people involved in mass suicide, doomsday cults, and murder, with many cult leaders proclaiming themselves as the messiah and with beliefs often involving aliens. According to the The Way International article, it doesn't appear that this group comes close to any of these other groups. However, allegations of thought control and "love bombing" are relevant to being a cult. Still, if these allegations were only in the 1970s, I don't think it makes sense to put every leader of The Way into the Cult leader category, certainly not without specific allegations on the person's article (though if anything The Way International would belong in Category:Cults, which at least in practice is much more expansive in including somewhat tangentially related things). —Centrx→talk • 06:46, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- Not much else to say except that "I agree." But since I am involved in the group I might stay away from my just removing it...though I imagine that this sort of thing would have to be discussed first on the page or something...? Lsjzl 21:12, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
Any controversial change should be discussed on the discussion page, but if you are the only person monitoring the article, there won't be much of a discussion. In general, the articles about the presidents of the organization need more context and information, and if the cult leaders category belongs, information about that as well.
Upon further consideration, I think that most, if not all, of the articles about the leaders of the organization should be merged into The Way article and deleted or redirected. Several of the articles simply have "This person is a vice president of The Way, serving under president Rivenbark." Others are still mostly about The Way, or the person's organizational actions there, with a possible religious book published. It is not necessary for them to have separate articles. —Centrx→talk • 02:21, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
I am going to nominate Ermal L. Owens, Donald Wierwille, Harve J. Platig, Vince McFadden, Roger Mitler, John Rupp, Howard R. Allen, and Jean-Yves De Lisle for deletion. What do you think about L. Craig Martindale, Rosalie F. Rivenbark, Harry Ernst Wierwille, and John R. Reynolds? Of course, the information here should be merged where appropriate, and possibly we could make do with just doing redirects instead of going through the deletion process? —Centrx→talk • 19:04, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- I would definitely recommend redirects instead of straight deletes -- that way if anyone does look up those names, they'll get to the next best article. -- Antaeus Feldspar 01:48, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, Centrx that sounds great, the redirects I mean. Esp. for the one liners. Lsjzl 02:50, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- By the way, this has since been done. —Centrx→talk • 02:48, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
