Balaibalan

The translation so far is of "finished in five minutes with time to spare"-quality and the original didn't have any more information about conlanging in the renaissance. If you find any, put it in. Though, Norw. wikipedia is a bit weird with its use of "planspråk" (planned language) for conlang. It's of course not done yet, needs cleaning up and a stub-tag before it is released in the wild, and then anti-AfD-insurance until Balaibalan gets its proper place in the spotlight :) --Kaleissin 21:37, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Distinguo

Hi. Thanks for your comments at Talk:Distinguo. I am not in any way connected with Distiguo, nor do I have any particular technical knowledge of how semantic search actually works except for in electronic dictionary apps. Your experience is obviously much broader than mine - please feel free to make the changes you suggest, and to incorporate the interesting additional information you provided in your talk page comment. Thanks.--Kudpung (talk) 09:34, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dempster-Shafer Theory

Hi, only the last line of criticism was mine. I wish people would sign their contributions properly. I'll have a look at the revamped page some time this week, I hope. I am rather busy since a new term of university has just started... Incompetnce (talk) 10:36, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Keeping comments separate: Agreed! However, even when people neglect to sign their comments, you can - as you did here - begin your comments as a new section, using the "==" shorthand; or - as I am now doing - add my comments as an indented comment under a previous comment, using the colon ":" to indent.
I hope you don't mind; I'm changing this section heading to read "Dempster-Shafer Theory". Are you wondering why? Just google "D-S Theory" ... ;-)
If you want to separate your comments from the preceding comments, you could, even now, edit the Talk page for Dempster-Shafer Theory, and insert a section header, e.g. Dempster's Rule not analogous to Bayes' rule, above them.

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:56, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting review of VisualLangLab

Hi, I created the VisualLangLab article that describes an open-source parser-generator with the same name, and am writing to request a review of the article.

The parser-generator itself is something that I created, so there is an obvious conflict of interest, but I have stated the fact that I created the software on my user page.

Thank you very much for any help.

The VisualLangLab Article

Hi Yoyo,

I really love the way the article is organized now. Thank you very much for your help.

Your kind words about the software itself are also very encouraging. I hope to keep making improvements to the software, and will update the article whenever there is something new to report.

Thank you and best wishes again.

Sanjaydasgupta54 (talk) 03:04, 11 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

Thanks again for your additions to the VisualLangLab talk page. I know of a few more secondary sources, and will tag them on as well.

A Merry Christmas and a Happy new year to you.

Hello, please do not remove red links, as you did at Victorian gold rush. They help Wikipedia grow and, as the informational page above suggests, remind us that Wikipedia is a work in progress. Graham87 13:59, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the correction, Graham87! I must be tireder than I thought ... yoyo (talk) 16:54, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries: you are doing it wrong

Do not insert your own text between /* and */: [1] shows numerous → links in your summaries with anchors which lead to nowhere – compare it with → links, say, in my edit summaries. See Help: Edit summary #Section editing for detailed instructions. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 19:39, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the info, User:Incnis Mrsi!
Here's how it happened: I saw what looked like a programming-language comment string format — /* ... */ — and thought: "Aha! Just summarise the changes inside a comment string." Little did I know ... but thanks to your explicit link, I now know better.
Funny it took so many years before anybody noticed! yoyo (talk) 14:50, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article Feedback deployment

Hey Yahya Abdal-Aziz; I'm dropping you this note because you've used the article feedback tool in the last month or so. On Thursday and Friday the tool will be down for a major deployment; it should be up by Saturday, failing anything going wrong, and by Monday if something does :). Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 23:31, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Re: Five ways to map

Appreciated Yahya Abdal-Aziz:

The present communication is in relation with the message you left on the talk page of the file Maps of Western Sahara.png.

1) You said that

Unfortunately, I can't contact User:Universalis, who appears not to exist

If you wanna contact Universalis, you can contact me. That's because Universalis is my user name in spanish Wikipedia and in Commons. Once I tried to merge accounts but that wasn't possible.

2) You said that

there's a fifth way; see the map in the infobox on the Western Sahara conflict included on the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic

In regards to that, is the same 3rd way on that file.

3) You said that

Nice job, so far! But perhaps we can still improve the graphic?

I'm glad you like it. In regards to improvement, I can't do it because I don't have advanced software for images. Only Paint.

Greetings from Colombia and God bless you.

Hey, I saw that you added a needhelp question over at Talk:Auction theory, and I just wanted to give you a heads' up that I answered it :) Cheers! Rchard2scout (talk) 16:31, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The bot is being maintained by User:cyberpower678. Replacing plainlinks with a Cite template automatically is kinda hard, because it's not easy for a bot to pick between, for example, {{Cite web}} and {{Cite news}}, and there are many more Cite templates that might be more appropriate in some cases. We could file a bug report, but I don't know if that's necessary in this case. Let's just keep an eye on it for now, and replace plainlinks with Cite templates when you come across them :) Rchard2scout (talk) 17:22, 18 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Now I begin to understand the complexities. Thanks! And I'll have a go at using the Cite templates: {{Cite web}} and {{Cite news}}, etc – but not until I've studied the various alternatives in more detail. yoyo (talk) 06:59, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
