Toyota Cressida
The Toyota Cressida was a powerful, well built, midsize luxury sedan introduced by Toyota in 1977. The Cressida was also know as a 4 door Supra because Supra and Cressida shared the same inline 6 engine, were built on the same chasis, both had rear-wheel drive and were flagship cars. The Cressida went through major changes every 4 years. The last change for North America was in 1989 when the body was updated and the engine got a boost from 2.8 liters to 3.0 liters. The Cressida was discontined in North America in 1992 because the introduction of the Lexus division Toyota didn't need a luxury sedan in it's lineup. Even though it was discontinued the Cressida remained Toyota's largest sedan until 1995 with introduction of the front-wheel drive American made Avalon.
