The AFL Rising Star is an Australian rules football award presented annually to the player adjudged the best young player in the Australian Football League (AFL) for the year. The recipient of the AFL Rising Star is awarded the Ron Evans Medal.

A player is nominated for the award each round by a panel of experts during the AFL season; to be eligible for nomination, the player must be aged 21 or under on 1 January that year, and have played ten or fewer AFL games as of the start of the season. If a player is suspended during the season, they may be nominated, but will not eligible to win the award. At the completion of the regular season one of the nominees is voted the winner by a panel who award votes on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis.[1]

During the 2017 season, the award was sponsored by National Australia Bank, and the winner announced in a presentation held at Crown Palladium in Melbourne on 1 September 2017. Fox Footy broadcast coverage of the event on subscription television. The winner was Andrew McGrath of the Essendon Football Club who polled 51 votes.[2]
