Creation of State

Andhra State was a state created in India on October 1 1953 from the Telugu-speaking northern districts of Madras Presidency. It comprised of Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema Regions.

Merger with Telangana

On November 1 1956 it was merged with the Telingana region of erstwhile Hyderabad State to form a united Telugu-speaking state of Andhra Pradesh.
