The HP postcode area, also known as the Hemel Hempstead postcode area,[2] is a group of twenty-four postcode districts in England which are subdivisions of eleven post towns. These cover north-west Hertfordshire and the bulk, including centre, of Buckinghamshire.
The area comprises most of the Dacorum district, Hertfordshire and most of Chiltern, Wycombe and Aylesbury Vale districts, Buckinghamshire and small part of the South Bucks district.
Numbering is in a series from HP1 to 23, with HP27 as an addition: Princes Risbrough. The area is a loose square and its main series runs from north-east to south-west then HP17 to 23 take up the north-east of the area including Aylesbury and Tring. Regional sorting is in Hemel Hempstead.[3]
