Dr. Muhammad Mustafizur Rahman (born January 1, 1941) is a Bangladeshi Islamic scholar, professor, academician and Quran translator. He was the 7th vice chancellor of Islamic University, Bangladesh.[1][2] His IU vc work time was from December 10, 2001 to April 2, 2004 BC.[1][3] He is professor of Dhaka University,[4] and has many books and journals about Islamic researcher.[5][6] Dr. Mostafizur Rahman translated the first Holy Quran Arabic into English in Bangladesh[7]

Early life and Education

Mustafizur Rahman was born in 1941 in the Surjomoni village of the Pirojpur district in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). His father is Md Abdul Majid Munsi and mother is Lal Boru Begum.[7] He is a student of Dhaka University.

Career

Mustafizur Rahman graduated from the Dhaka University Arabic department. He was nominated as lecturer at the Arabic department of University of Dhaka.[4] He was a prominent professor and nominated as the chairman of Arabic department of DU.[8][4]

Appoint to IU VC

Mustafizur Rahman was appointed to Islamic University, Bangladesh as vice-chancellor on December 10, 2001. There were no new departments or residence halls that were opened during his period as vice-chancellor. He left Islamic University on April 2, 2004. He acted as vice chancellor for about 2 years, 3 months and 23 days.[8]

Death

Mustafizur Rahman died on January 14, 2014.[7] He was ill in old age, he died in United Hospital, Dhaka.[7] Prayers are offered for him at Uttara Central Jame Mosque, Baitul Mukarram Mosque, Nesarabad Madrasa, Islamic University and many other places.[16][17]
