Homeschooled?

(In regards to Talk:Nikki_Reed/Archive_1#Contradiction.) Yes, I have to agree with the previous user. It states that Reed was able to prove she was financially and emotionally capable of living on her own. However, how could she be homeschooled? The term is very casually used and it could mean she did a special independent study program, though. Perhaps someone could add more to this? A teenager who has already moved out and freed herself from her parents, no, she couldn't have been homeschooled. Estheroliver (talk) 00:23, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your understanding of homeschooling is too narrow. For starters, read Homeschooling. The information in the article is not necessarily a contradiction. Cresix (talk) 01:10, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't believe my "understanding" is too narrow at all. In more developed (and some good and featured articles), it would clearly specify that the celebrity enrolled in an independent study program or was schooled by private tutors (we would assume, generally, off-set means at home, or just outside of a typical classroom environment). This article does not state what exactly she did. Estheroliver (talk) 19:08, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't say the article states "what exactly she did". I was responding your statement "A teenager who has already moved out and freed herself from her parents, no, she couldn't have been homeschooled", which is simply wrong. Again, read Homeschooling: "Homeschooling ... is the education of children at home, typically by parents but sometimes by tutors. ... Homeschooling may also refer to instruction in the home under the supervision of correspondence schools or umbrella schools". An emancipated minor can be homeschooled, contrary to your statement. Cresix (talk) 19:19, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Looking on Google, she homeschooled herself. So I guess, there's an answer. But I can't find a reliable source for this article (the majority is fansites and personal pages). Estheroliver (talk) 23:15, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free to add a source that she homeschooled herself. Cresix (talk) 23:20, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tagged for promotional tone

This article appears to be written by the actress herself or her publicist. It contains uncited POV ("One of her most distinctive roles was...," etc.), and wholly inappropriate hype such as, "Reed launched an official website that features a blog, where she discusses a variety of subjects, both personal and professional," and "Bret Easton Ellis, the novelist behind such works as The Rules of Attraction and American Psycho."

This article severely needs to be edited to a more NPOV tone. --Tenebrae (talk) 21:35, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, it's way too 'polished' like written by a PR person. If Ms. Reed and/or her publicist is reading this, perhaps they can take the trouble to tone it down a bit or, better yet, ask some more objective else to do so -- see WP:COI. Plenty of other examples to model it after, e.g. see WP:Featured Articles and WP:Good Articles. Fwiw, I like her work in Thirteen and just saw her on Letterman. -A98 98.92.184.135 (talk) 05:41, 16 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Delete husband from Lead

Not typical to have spouses cited in Lead, even if musician with own article - males don't do it.Parkwells (talk) 18:55, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nikki's Age

I am wondering, what is her actual age? In the article itself, it states she was born in 1988, but in her profile under her picture, it states she was born in 1981. Which is the correct year? Shadow Android (talk) 17:51, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation for Nicky Reed

There's a rather well-known Czech actress called Nicky Reed. To avoid confusion, shouldn't there be a disambiguation page, especially since Google answers a search for Nicky Reed by showing mainly Nikki Reed results, apparently assuming that the two are one person? --217.226.92.79 (talk) 14:55, 5 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm. The actor/actress credited as Nicky Reed in Through the Dragon's Eye plays a "widget", so you can't see his or her face. It seems rather likely that there are (at least) two actors/actresses called Nicky Reed. --217.226.83.239 (talk) 21:32, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No, as the actress you're referring to doesn't have a Wikipedia article. 4TheWynne(talk)(contribs) 06:49, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"Engagement"

Until there is confirmation from Reed, Somerhalder or their representatives, there is no confirmation of an engagement. As well-established, an encyclopedia cannot go by anonymous, unattributed, unnamed "sources" of uncertain knowledge or integrity. Whispery "sources" just convey rumor, and popular-press claims of engagements and pregnancies in particular have been proven wrong in the past. There is no deadline and we are not news. An encyclopedia can afford to wait and confirm things concretely. --Tenebrae (talk) 03:28, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Jewish?

The subject's father is Jewish but the subject was neither born Jewish nor did she convert. Her brother having had a Bar Mitzvah at one time does not make her Jewish and you can "self identify" as anything. "All Jewish religious movements agree that a person may be a Jew either by birth or through conversion. According to halakha, a Jew by birth must be born to a Jewish mother. Halakha states that the acceptance of the principles and practices of Judaism does not make a person a Jew." (Sellpink (talk) 16:03, 22 January 2023 (UTC))[reply]
