www.zoonomen.net gives the author as John Wilkes, and the source as volume 16 of the Encyclopedia Londinensis. John Wilkes (1750-1810) of Milland House, Sussex was a printer, bookseller and stationer. He compiled the Encyclopedia, which was published between about 1810 and 1829 in 24 volumes. This would explain why the description was apparently published seven years after the author's death.[1]Smallweed08:49, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
