G’day, and welcome to my user page.
My nom de plume is Grogan deYobbo. I chose Grogan as it vaguely resembles my real name, and coined deYobbo as an amusing and intriguing dichotomy of aristocratic elegance and loutish hooliganism.
About me
I am an Australian (as you will have discerned from my accent) living in the city of Wollongong, about 80 km (50 mi) south of Sydney. Wollongong is also something of a dichotomy: it is noted for its steelworks, coal mines and industrial port; yet also features a mild temperate climate, numerous fine sandy beaches and the magnificent Illawarra Escarpment as a backdrop.
Contributions
Not surprisingly my main area of interest is Wollongong and all things Wollongong related. I continue to contribute to the main Wollongong article when I can, and also many local suburb, school, landmark and feature articles.
I do contribute narrative, but I have to say that wordsmithing is not my strength. Much of my effort is adding and completing infoboxes, reverting vandalism and generally tidying and improving existing articles. I have also created the odd category and navigation template, a userbox and uploaded a couple of my own photographs to Commons.
A long-term goal is to get Wollongong to ‘’Good Article’’ status.
In the meantime I enjoy poking around in Wikipedia wherever and whenever takes my fancy.
