Theo Alexandrinus (Graece: Θέων ὁ Ἀλεξανδρεύς, Théōn ho Alexandréus; Alexandria, 335 circiter – Alexandria, 405 circiter) clarus philosophus, mathematicus, astrologus graecus antiquus fuit. Editionem Euclidis Elementa curavit ordinavitque et commenta Euclidis ac Claudii Ptolemaeii operibus scripsit.

Vita

Theon vixit et docuit Alexandriae in Aegypto, saeculo IV cum filia sua Hypatia, perita philosopha.

Is appellatus est Divinus, quod ex Divina Gens Potitia, sacrorum mysteriorum Herculis Invicti Sacrae scientiae custos.

Filiam quoque habuit Theon Hypatiam, quae prima in historia nota femina mathematice memoratur et nota est ob finem tragicum tamquam victima aliquot monachorum christianorum (monachi Parabolani).

Theon etiam memoratur in Suda ut «vir Mouseion», titulo referente ad Museum Alexandrinum, cuius rector fuit Theon, qui a Christianis destructus est, vel, iuxta alii fontes, ad Serapeum cum Museo confusum simili usu (secundum hos fontes, hic qui a Christianis destruitur, iuxta edictum Theodosianum, dum bibliothecae excidium vel anticipatum fuisset. Concursus inter Aurelianum et Zenobiam, reginam Palmyrenarum, anno 270 circa quem Bruchion vicus, bibliothecae sedes, destruitur vel differtur usque ad obsidionem Alexandriae ab Anir Ibn al-As anno 642).
