Loxodonta africana est maxima elephantum omnium species, in Africa tantum vivens, minus minusque frequens. In Uganda, Kenia, Tanzania, Botsuana, Zimbabua, Namibia, Zambia, Angolia aliisque civitatibus reperitur, magna parte in reservatis habitans sed ubique ab hominibus propter ebur venata.
