Rochdale Branch

I know little of the Rochdale, but I do notice that there is no mention whatsoever of the Rochdale Branch, except in the map. Could anyone update the page with more information? 1798: Rochdale town branch opened, 0.5 miles from Halfpenny Bridge to Richard Street basin. Parrot of Doom (talk) 01:59, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Manchester shallow water play area

I have an old book on canals that shows part of the canal in Manchester being modified as a water park. I assume that this has now been returned to navigation? Is there any further detail on this? DiverScout (talk) 11:24, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

Gaytborn Tunnel

Between locks 91 and 92 the canal goes through a 70m tunnel which takes it under Deansgate (A56): according to a plaque at the eastern end, commemorating its restoration by the Manchester Corporation, it is called the Gaytborn Tunnel, but it is not named on the map nor is it mentioned in the article. Today - Cheshire Ring

It has been popular for a lot more than 30 years - I went round it in 1981, when it was already popular. I think 'since the late 1970s' would be more accurate, and I think it's better to say 'since 19xx' because that doesn't go out of date with the passing of time. Mdrb55 (talk) 13:33, 1 June 2022 (UTC)
