Paul d'Amour (born Paul M. d'Amour; June 8, 1968 in Spokane, Washington) was the original bassist for Tool.
Originally a guitar player, Paul was introduced to Tool by Adam Jones. Paul went to Los Angeles because of the film industry. He hadn't played music for a while and was thinking about giving it up. He was angry all the time, and Tool's music suited him perfectly.
Paul left Tool because of shifts in his musical taste and a desire to do something more experimental.
After his departure from the band in 1995 he was replaced by Justin Chancellor. After he left, he formed the band Lusk, releasing one album titled Free Mars.
Paul also played guitar in the Replicants, a cover band that included members of Failure.
As of early 2005, Paul has been writing and performing under the name Feersum Ennjin, which apparently owes its name to the science fiction novel Feersum Endjinn by Iain M Banks. Equipment :
