Biomega is an ongoing seinen/action manga by Tsutomu Nihei, the creator of BLAME!. Biomega is the second prequel to BLAME! and is the story of how the world in BLAME! became shrouded by the Megastructure.

Volume 1 was released 2004 and stopped, chapter 11 of Volume 2 was released May 2006, 2 years later in Ultra Jump.
Synopsis
Set in the future. It follows a character by the name of Kanoe Zouichi and his AI companion Kanoe Fuyu whose luminous form is integrated into the system of his bike. They are agents sent by a powerful organization (Toh-a Heavy Industries) to retrieve humans with the ability to resist and transmute the N5S infection that is spreading across the world.
The art in BioMega is similar to BLAME!, with its complicated concrete sprawl and ludicrously wide, empty spaces. However, things seem to happen at a more reasonable pace. In this manga, there is emphasis on the swiftness of the attacks made by Zouichi, such as the gun being sheathed just before the enemies fall to the ground. Speed is crucial in this manga, unlike in BLAME!, and the plot develops just as quickly.
Main Characters
- Zouichi Kanoe: Main character of the manga. He is a synthetic human made by the Toha Heavy Industries and is on a misson for them to find persons that have adapted to the N5S virus. He meets Yion Green in MSCF, Mass Security Containment Facility, in south district 17, where he have been askt to help out with a "exorcism". He fails to rescue Yion when she is taken by the Public Healt Deptartment, after witch he starts to track her down so he can rescue her. He uses a weapon similar to the Gravitational Beam Emitter in Blame!, in hes bicke he also have a large rifle, possibal a railgun. He's A.I. is Fuyu Kanoe.
- Nishu Mizunoe: A female synthetic human that makes contact with Kozlow Loewic Grebnew in former Izhits Co. and is on a misson to find Loew Grigorievic Grebnev, one of original founders of the DRF, Data Recovery Foundation. She has the same weapons as Zouichi. Her A.I. is Shin Mizunoe.
- Yion Green: One of two immortals, she have adapted to the N5S virus and was living in MSCF in south district 17 with Kozlow Loewic Grebnew. Zouichi accidently runs over her with hes motorcycle and this cuts her leg in 2, but she shortly after has it melt back togheter. She is later taken in to custody by a patrol officer from the Public Health Department.
- Kozlow Loewic Grebnew: Is a bear that walks like a human and talks. He lived with Yion Green and tried to protect her when the patrol officer came to get her. He befriends both Zuichi and Nishu after a short unfriendly start with both. He saves the A.I. Taira Hinoto from falling in to the hands of DRF. He loses parts of hes body true the manga, as of chapter 23 he have lost one hand and a ear.
- Kardal: A young women that works with the Public Health Department. For unknown reason she can cover her body with something that looks like vines, she can also create new ones and use the as bolts, she also might have some form of telekinesis ability. She is first seen taking Yion Green with her from the MSCF, Zouichi later meets her in her human form again and spends some time with her without knowing who she is.
- General Narain: Head of the Public Health Department, is a huge, possibal mutated, creature with lots of tentacles. He appears to have some form of telekinesis ability. He is later killed when the DRF attacks his headquarter.
- Nyaldee: One of the highest ranking members of the DRF and also the second oldest person in the world. He's or she's weapon looks like long white worms, they can both affect people mentaly and destroy things, its a close range weapon.
