Hi, this is my "me"-page, blablabla, nothing here yet, but this is currently a dumping-ground for material I need to cut-and-paste. Feel free to use it yourself if you wish. But if you do, you must be very bored. Or lonely. Don't whittle away hours voting, go find a stub and flesh it out. Read a WikiBook. Take a virtual Walk. Anything!
Languages I understand
I like languages, languages are cool, and the more you learn the better you understand the origins of English :)
- I am a native speaker of English (and speak it a lot better than most natives I might add)
- I have an excellent knowledge of the Latin volcabulary, enough to translate inscriptions and jokes (tu es caudex!) on-the-fly, but ask me about declensions beyond the third and I'm done for!
- I have a pathetic knowledge of Old English, only enough to get by. I can get the gist of something, but little more than that I'm afraid. There's always night school...
- I hope to add Greek to my abilities, if only Massey would offer it again...
- I might learn Japanese if I can fit it in somewhere...
- Oh and I took some Maori, how could I forget? Pathetically easy to learn... compared to Latin that is...
Images and pages to watch
Here goes the stuff where I don't know what it's doing on WP, or I want to follow its growth or improvement, and if I get around to it I'll label it or something... If you wanna jump in and do one for me, feel free to remove it from this list :)
- Image:Christiandenominations.png, ASCII>PNG flowchart conversion.
- Image:Jessifer.jpg, looks suspiciously like some dude's girlfriend...
- Image:Pokeballs.jpg, this not only needs the source indicated, but I'd also like to cut out the individual balls to illustrate the list with.
- Image:Character education.jpg, WTF?!?
- Image:Chamscript.JPG make a PNG version of this using...:
- Image:Normalpb.gif, if Wikipedia:Pokeprosal template changes, this will become an orphan
- Image:Superpb.gif, orphan
- also "fair use" legality of fan-made graphic representations of copyrighted medium is open to debate
- WorldVision, inconclusive Googles (i.e., coming up with World Vision instead) - expanded and added links;search for: WorldVision Enterprises Inc. / WorldVision Home Video Inc and you will find more info --Omniwolf 17:33, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
- Scarlet Crusade, WP:FICT?
- Image:DSCN0048.JPG vs. Image:Hamster.JPG, one must go!
- Turku Student Village, um, interesting, but, is it notable...? I can't tell...
- W54 real but needs categorising or something - expanded info and added links --Omniwolf 17:33, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
- Will Smith (football player), WTF?
- Detroit Safari, ?
- Ini file, um, not encyclopedic? Dunno.
- Poovarany, is a town with 80 Googles notable enough for WP, or are all towns auto-notable like schools *sound of suppressed laughter*
- The Ring of Charon, nn?
- Jotun Hein, JuntungWu says he'll expand it...? Should become an interesting read.
- Nemesis (Bricktop), WTF?!?
- Highland Railway Strath Class, 0 Googles, but I know nothing about trains...
- Azamgarh Division + Basti Division + Bareilly Division + Agra Division + Allahabad Division, ???
- CliffsNotes, *cough*Wikibooks*cough* (I hope I recognise the purpose of my coughing when I clear this list...)
- Image:Skinhead Crosstar.jpeg, get this on IFD once it's orphaned. GarrettTalk 22:42, 15 July 2005 (UTC)
Off-site media to import later
You know when you spot something and think "that'd be GREAT to use on WP at some point!" and then you lose the link and search in vain for it? ...you don't? Well, anyway, I do, so here they are...
- Zelda Game & Watch box hi-res photo! [1], in context [2]
- scratch the last one, THIS is the ultra-hi-res one [3], seen in context [4]
- However it's signed by Miyamoto himself! So on the one hand I have a super-hi-res image (to be used in thumb form of course, but a great reward for click-thru-ers and GDPL-safe book editors) but on the other hand I'd ideally edit off The Man's signature. What an ethical decision...
- scratch the last one, THIS is the ultra-hi-res one [3], seen in context [4]
- Zelda novels, [5]
- Apricorns
Pages I'm particularly proud of
These are the pages I've either heavily contributed to, or was the sole author of.
- Zelda LCD games, sole author (so far)
- BS Zelda: Kodai no Sekiban, sole author (so far)
- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, made some fairly good contributions there... but give it a month after its release and my groundwork will look insignificant!
- Grand Theft Auto Advance, (re?)wrote most of it, I forget...
- The Legend of Zelda series enemies, characters, and races. I am particularly proud of these, and it's even been referred to as an example in the similar Wikipedia:Pokeprosal! I took about a hundred splintered and obscure stubs and united them into useful and flowing articles. I hope that some day all fan works can have their obscure parts united like this.
- Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, gave this updates at almost a twice-hourly rate. Despite not knowing a crap of a lot about the game, I still think it gives a good idea of the content to expect now. In retrospect I maybe should have found/started a Wikinews post or something and contributed there... hmmm...
My Wikibooks contributions
I have authored several guides in the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Wikibook; some were just vague and brief stubs when I started on them, others didn't exist at all, and now they're virtually GameFAQ's quality!
My Wikicities contributions
I've just launched the Journal of History and Classics over at the Academic Publishing Wiki, and I wikified my old essay The struggle for Greece: Marathon and Artemision as its flagship work. So check it out!
Things I need to do/finish
I used to use my Watchlist to remind myself, but now it's got like 200+ pages in it...
- Dark World, either rewrite to make useful as separate or merge to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past#The Two Worlds.
- Image:Cellobiose.JPG, make an uncorrupted PNG version!
-
- Image:Satellaview system.png, AC Adapter >> AC adapter
Since A Link to the Past uploaded this image, I might as well start collecting content to accompany its imminent inclusion! If I bookmark this stuff I always lose it... bah...
The terrible Moblin has a magic spear. Whenever he throws it, it vanishes and reappears in his hand. However, he has one weakness... ....The story ends with a cliffhanger. You don't see Link save Zelda—to do that you need to buy the game!
- You can download the entire book (ZIP containing JPEGs, 2MB) from North Castle
- You can read the book online at ZeldArt
- You can read a fan-made Italian translation at ZeldArt
Images I've contributed
This list got unGainly, so can now be found at User:Master Thief Garrett/Images.
Other users' cool projects
- BDAbramson's Wiki-Hell. Great article, encompasses everything that gets Vfd'd/Speedy'd. He is now officially my hero.
- User:SWAdair/2Bchecked, kinda like my little list. Only more organised.
- BEEFSTEW, the School-Damnation System(TM)
- User:Kelly Martin#Primary & secondary school articles, another cool school rating project.
- User:CryptoDerk/CDVF, not sure what it does, but looks hella cool for "later" (read: mid-July)
I am a "Mergist"
I am a "mergist". I don't believe in mercilessly deleting, but I don't believe in allowing 5000+ splintered eternal stub articles to exist either. Look at my work on merging the Zelda characters/races/enemies into core pages. They are still as useful and valid as they ever were, and indeed are made *more* useful by listing them together. Why? With a separate page structure, a user has to click through to each and every related thing. If they are all on the same page, the user merely scrolls up/down to see related things. This is certainly a goal that should be aimed for, in this and all other Wiki projects.
