Alice M. Batchelder is a judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. She is a former U.S. bankruptcy judge and district judge (both times appointed by President Ronald Reagan). In 1991, President George H.W. Bush appointed her to the Sixth Circuit. As a bright, conservative woman with considerable judicial experience hailing from the politically-crucial swing state of Ohio, she has been mentioned as a possible nominee to the United States Supreme Court.
Batchelder lives and has chambers in Medina, Ohio, near Cleveland, Ohio. Her husband, a state court of appeals judge, is a former state legislator.
