Tim Winton (born 1960) is an Australian novelist born in Perth, Western Australia. While attending Curtin University, Winton wrote his first novel, An Open Swimmer. This won The Australian/Vogel Literary Award, kickstarting his writing career. He is now one of Australia's most well-known novelists.
