images of jefferson

I found a great image of Jefferson that is in the public domain: http://teachpol.tcnj.edu/amer_pol_hist/thumbnail98.html . Please consider using it on the Thomas Jefferson article. It is much better quality than http://en.wikipedia.org/upload/a/a2/Tom_jefferson_color.JPG , IMHO. Kingturtle 05:22, 24 Feb 2004 (UTC)

  • I was suggesting placing the tcnj.edu image on the Jefferson page itself. Kingturtle 05:35, 24 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Nice work!

Thanks for all the great work you have put into the 'events in history' page and on streamlining the Main Page. Please don't think that my revert was anything more than procedural - I in fact like the look of your second version better than the current Main Page. --mav 07:14, 24 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Events in history March 2004?

I really don't like that idea. I was in fact thinking about having many items for every day and just establish the policy that only 4 can be displayed at any one time on the Main Page. They can be commented out and rotated (just like the images). But dividing this between many different pages is not something that I favor at all (if anything we would divide it up based on month - but only for space considerations). --mav

Lord Baltimore

Hello, jengod. Lord Baltimore should indeed be at Baron Baltimore, as per the standards set at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Peerage. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. -- Emsworth 22:08, Feb 25, 2004 (UTC)

Neutral countries

How is that you reckon Sweden, Switzerland and Portugal were neutral and you don't reckon the Irish Free State, Spain, Turkey and Andorra were neutral? David Newton 02:35, 26 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Ah, so how exactly was Switzerland not co-opted by the Nazis? Who was who stashed away millions and millions worth of stolen gold and treasures? It certainly wasn't the Spaniards. Who refused to invade Gibralter, despite Nazi pressure? I would also suspect that your blithe dismissal of Irish independence would intensely annoy at lot of Irish nationalists. The Irish Free State became an independent nation in 1921. Turkey has territory in Europe, hence my inclusion of it in the list. As for Andorra being a micro-state, since when did that matter? It was a neutral nation state on the continent of Europe. Oh, and on Portgual, you did know that they granted basing rights to Allied forces inside their territory in 1943 didn't you (albeit the Azores, rather than Portugal itself)? Ken Watanabe

Are we good to take Ken Watanabe (actor) off the Wikipedia:Pages_needing_attention page?

My Gift to Fifth Graders

Thanks. That made me laugh :) I've wondered the same thing myself at times, about the cribbing. Are we writing the world's most comprehensive Cliff Notes? As far as the sysop, I would like to be one, and it would be an honor being nominated by you. The thing is that I've only been editing since Jan. 10, so I don't know if people would go for it right now, even though I have a lot of edits. On the other hand, I'm interested in becoming a developer too (yet another thing) and so I've asked Tim Starling for his advice about this. -- Decumanus 21:43, 27 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Davodd has completed the maps, and the U.S. South is now using the template and infobox. JCarriker 04:45, Mar 1, 2004 (UTC)

History of CA

Sorry if I ended up conflicting your edits--I happened on the page & made some changes without checking page history dates/times. Only edited Drake section just now. Elf 22:49, 4 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Hermit Kingdom is listed in Wikipedia:Redirects for deletion. Optim·.· 05:55, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)

The 555th Parachute Company article has a confusing starred note. What it means is that after that point, although I stated that the company grew into Company A, 555th Parachute Battalion, I will be describing the entire batallion (rather than just the company) after the star. Hope that's not as confusing... ugen64 02:14, Mar 5, 2004 (UTC)

Nice work. :-) -- 160.39.193.218 22:58, 5 Mar 2004 (UTC)

I agree - very nice work. --mav

punctuation

Not necessarily :) The Wikipedia:Manual of Style prefers the British system of punctuation, though, I won't revert this change over it... Dysprosia 06:54, 7 Mar 2004 (UTC)

War nav table

I kinda liked your war nav table idea. But it would only work on a per nation basis (just like the table you created at American Civil War). I would also like to see your feedback to Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Days_of_the_Year#New_layout_proposal whenever you get a chance. :) --mav 01:46, 7 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Welcome boilerplate

Hi, just wanted to let you know that I did see your request on the Welcoming Committee talk page. I'm willing to comment on any boilerplate you make. You can also take a look at my personal boilerplates here. They aren't perfect, and I've been meaning to revamp them, but they're a start. Isomorphic 05:20, 8 Mar 2004 (UTC)

U.S. Regions Update

U.S. South, U.S. West and U.S. Northeast are now all using the infobox. The protype articles format has reached completion but the text is in dire need of additions. Please feel free to edit the text as you would any other article, but please do not make a change to the format with out explaining why on the discussion page. You can find the prototype article here The Non-Official infobox has been proposed please review it and post your opinons on it's talk page. You can find the proposal [[ Non-Official Region Template and Infobox| here.

Also ther is a list of WikiTexans; thought you might want to add yourself
