RFC for me

No no no, i didnt quit ESP becuase of losing the election, actually i thought i did quite well, i quite because i ddnt feel it was right for me anymore. Also if you have any just bring them to my talk page as i welcome constructive criticism. Id rather try to work things out. Also some of my "nastiness" is due to certain personal problems in my life and may have affected my editing on wikipedia. I did take a wikibreak but i think i might need another one possibly. Jobe6   22:49, 23 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Also i might sound a bit nasty if someone has been nasty to boothy443 as i feel he is a good faith contributor but has a staled image because people are mad about his high admin standards and want him to change his vote. It sorta makes me mad that even some of the most well respected members of our community have done this also. Jobe6   22:52, 23 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
No its alright you didnt have to apologize, but anyways thanks for offering to help. Anythign i can do for you to return the favor? If so just lemme know. Jobe6   22:59, 23 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
Note User:Merovingian who i whole heartedly respect also has almost automatic support votes but has never receieved any criticism. Also i wish i could help but seeing as im only 14 i dont think most people would give me a good paying job. Also if you would like to help get me my girlfriend back. Hehe. I based my numbers off your list, yes. But I omitted Essjay, because he could not vote, as well as two candidates who did not vote (technically, they could have, and would have, but they felt it was inappropriate). Ral315 (talk) 19:21, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I saw a complaint on WP:RFPP that you've protected a page in which you were involved in a dispute, after reverting to your favored version. On checking I am surprised that this seems to be correct. What's up? Why did you protect a page you were editing? --Tony SidawayTalk 20:28, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I wasn't involved in the dispute, I was mediating the dispute. Protected the page initially, asking for all sides to come to a consensus on the talk page before unprotecting. It appeared that it happened and I inserting what looked like an amalgamated edit, but Pigsonthewing decided to revert anyway, he and G-Man were both 3RRing a few days before (POTW twice, GMan once, and one day with a 2RR). I blocked Pigsonthewing, he complained at WP:AN/I, nobody listened, and then seeing the hostility on his talk page, I figured the only way to resolve this was either protect the page from POTW reverting or blocking, he seems to be the instigator there. Karmafist 20:55, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. Probably would be better in future to let someone else revert and go to WP:RFPP to ask for protection. --Tony SidawayTalk 20:59, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Karmafist most definitely was involved in the dispute. There was no consensus - someone proposed some new wording, I suggested a further amendment to make it more accurate. Karmafist went ahead anyway, so I added my amendment to the page. Karmafist then reverted me, breaking a fixed stub and re-ading a redundant link I'd removed. At that point, he threatened me on the talk page. Having checked on the admin noticeboard that he was not allowed to carry out taht threat, I told him so and carried on editing, but he blocked me with additional threats, contrary to policy, wrongly accusing me of vandalism. I have NOT beached 3RR (this has been pointed out to Karmafist by others, but he persists in making that false allegation). Andy Mabbett 21:26, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
Hmm, this is getting a but ugly. Andy, Karmafist, would either of you mind awfully if I took a crack at mediating the dispute on article content? I think I've got a reasonable grasp of the issue at hand, and I think I can probably manage it without going around blocking people or editing the article.
I don't like to jump in and tread on the toes of another administrator, or foist myself on unwilling disputants, so please let me know if either of you would object to my intervening. --Tony SidawayTalk 22:56, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
I think Karmafist's false allegations, abuse of power, blatant lies and threats are more than ugly. Never mind the article content; I'd like someone to stop Karmafist from behaving in such an outrageous fashion. Andy Mabbett 23:03, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I slightly altered Karmafists's comments at Wikipedia:Requests_for_page_protection#Coleshill.2C_Warwickshire to soften what Andy Mabbett obviously perceives as a personal attack. I hope I did not cause any offense by doing so: I was simply trying to help. -- BBlackmoor (talk), 2005-10-25 T 02:17:39 Z

It's 31 out of 75 now. You misinterpreted what I meant about the three users (hell, Redwolf24 DID vote...) But as the one running the election, Essjay COULD NOT vote (while the charter does not specifically say this, it's pretty clear that he wouldn't be able to vote while running the election). So let's leave it at 75. Ral315 (talk) 20:40, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Edit conflicts

Dont you hate it when you edit 4 spread out parts of one text and then get an edit conflict? I just copy everything, click "edit this page" again, and paste it in along with the other user's text(assuiming s/he only make a one-spot edit). Nashua Telegraph and regional AHL teams

Hi. I can't find any coverage of the Manchester Monarchs or Lowell Lock Monsters at the Nashua Telegraph's website. Am I missing something? ccwaters 20:45, 26 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Ok. The rationale behind those listings is to provide access to news coverage of the teams. I don't see how listing every newspaper within a 30 mile radius is achieving that. ccwaters 21:18, 26 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
So you admit that this newspaper doesn't normally cover the nearby AHL teams. Putting an ocassional boxscore in the print version doesn't help most netizens browsing wikipedia. It sounds like we're both in agreement that this paper isn't a good source for these teams. I don't understand why you think they should be listed. ccwaters 12:27, 27 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Barn thankies

Now, now, they only take up 4 extra-large plastic bins.  :)

I'll wait to put it on my user page until the RFA actually ends, as the oppose votes are coming in a lot faster than the support ones, and it would be a bit presumptious of me to assume I'll be an admin...

As to Biggie.P and friends, thanks for putting the notice up; I didn't look at JJ.Johnson's talk page... he's got even more sockpuppet accounts than I thought. I don't know how to prove it though...

Oh well, thankies for the barn, and hopefully I'll get to put it on my user page. I'll keep your description.  :) Thanks again, Bushytails 20:54, 26 October 2005 (UTC).Reply

Re:RFPP

Karmafist, I'm not going to get involved in this dispute, but I'm just going share my opinion with both you and Andy Mabbett: other people's comments shouldn't be removed or replaced just because they carry a negative gist; unless it is a clear-cut personal attack (i.e. You are an idiot! or something like that), "censoring" other people's comments probably won't do you any good except to aggravate a situation. Thanks. Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk | WS 23:11, 26 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Actually, I was referring to Pigsonthewing removing your "personal attacks". (I copied and pasted the message to him). Central Florida wasn't hit badly; only rain and some tropical storm force winds. South Florida didn't fare as well, though. :-( Thanks for asking. Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk | WS 23:34, 26 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Re RFA

My comment (more like a note to myself) was: "Appropriately neutral, though its doubtful that any Arbcom remedy would have a delay imposed." I simply meant by this that while you are correct in stating that it was "too soon after" (i.e. the Arbcom "findings" prejudices the outcome of the RFA), it would be less likely they would make a ruling that I be sent to RFA 'in a couple months.' Once they decided on the "reaffirm" option (as opposed to simply making a decision) it was a natural consequence that such would be immediate and hence carry the reflexive stigma of the finding. Macedonian poll

Hello, I saw that you asked User:Theathenae for a link to the poll. The poll is at Talk:Macedonian Slavs/Poll and it was a draw (50/50). How can we be in violation of a draw? Theathenae is talking a load of rubbish. That was a justified move as the vast majority of sources and editors saw it appropriate. That administrator (I wont name him/her) moved the page because the move was supported by more that 60% of the users on the talk page. It was like odds of 7 for the move and 2 against it. Erm. I find it hard to believe that a vote counts as a revert of an attempted closure. You could have just as easily argued that he had learned his lesson and decided to vote instead. But that's not the main reason I unblocked him. Yeah, his preemptive closure and warring over it were disruptive, and warranted a block if he had no intention of stopping. But, his vote indicated to me that he might have stopped anyway before the block. So I asked him and only after he agreed to not reclose the debate did I unblock him. His agreement rendered the block unnecessary. Feel free to reblock if he violates his promise. I hope you don't mind my unblock, I just thought that it could be solved without blocking.
