Sangiovese

Sangiovese is a red grape primarily grown for wine production. It is one of the top produced varietals in Italy, and especially Tuscany where it is made into Chianti and other blends, for example the famous Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Brunello di Montalcino.

The name derives from sanguis Jovis, "the blood of Jove".
