Molds (or moulds) are various fungi (zygomycetes, deuteromycetes or ascomycetes) that cover surfaces as fluffy mycelium and usually produce masses of asexual, sometimes sexual spores. The presence of mold usually implies decay, although some molds are used deliberately in cheesemaking and for the production of antibiotics.

A mold or mould is a hollowed-out block that is filled with liquid plastic, glass or metal. The liquid hardens or sets inside the mold, adopting its shape. A mold is the opposite of a cast (see casting).
