In Japan too?
Is Martinet's voice work used in the original Japanese versions of the Nintendo games, or just in the English ones? What of other languages? -- J44xm 20:24, August 4, 2005 (UTC)
- From what I can tell, he's Mario globablly. I can guarantee Japan, at any rate: a pre-release video of Mario & Luigi, taken (I think) from a Japanese website (or at least having the Japanese logo) had several voiceclips acted by Martinet's voice. --Shadow Hog 20:50, 4 August 2005 (UTC)
- I thought so. Thanks for the info. I'll add a not-too-specific blurb in the article. -- J44xm 01:03, August 7, 2005 (UTC)
MP3 voice clip needs to be OGG'd
Although 99% of the world can play an MP3, it isn't patent-free, yet. 65.67.98.193 19:59, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Expansion?
I've noticed that there is a marked difference between his official site and his wikipedia page. The wikipedia page seems to focus in on his Nintendo works while omitting a good number of his other performances. His website, on the other hand, puts Nintendo on equal footing with about a dozen other companies he has worked for at tradeshows. I figure the Wikipedia page should reflect that...

Better picture
This article needs a better picture. It is not a flattering picture of him, and you can't see his face. --Bando26 (talk) 18:33, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- The image is the only user-created image on Flickr that has a Wikipedia-friendly license. There are plenty of apparently user-created images on Flickr, so we can possibly convince a member there to re-license a photo and donate it to Wikipedia. Just64helpin (talk) 19:04, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Not enough
There's almost no information about Charles, the man. The article is too heavily reliant on Nintendo with not enough information about the man, himself. See Will Wright's article for an example of a good biography. Certainly someone has some information on Charles that hasn't got anything to do with Nintendo! 98.23.136.117 (talk) 08:13, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
Pic
The pic should be cropped to cut out as much of the book and jacket as logical. Lots42 (talk) 00:39, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Public appearances
First of, it kind of makes it sound like he's a member of royalty that rarely gets out. Second, it is far from an anywhere near complete list. Unless someone here objects to it, I'd rewrite it to just mention that he often tours with Nintendo events, is accessible to fans, etc. GameLegend (talk) 13:15, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
Credits in SSB
Charles Martinet is improperly credited as "Charles Martinee" in Super Smash Bros., wondering if this mistake appeared in other games as well. Either way, it should be noted when crediting him in said games. TedKennedyX (talk) 22:03, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
Working for Nintendo
Charles started working for Nintendo since 1994, he didn't start working for them in the 80's he started working with them in 1994 when he started voicing Mario. 67.142.168.27 (talk) 16:42, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

The Cat in the Hat?

Filmography deleted???
We have an annoying issue from a user named The1337gamer clamming that the sections needs sources. First of, it's a load of bull. Filmographys don't needs sources after all these years it was on here, ok. Also, he didn't even explain it in the edit summaries after he removed it. Just a warning, if you guys try to add it all back, he will remove it again without explaining it to you. Next time 1337gamer you should "EXPLAIN" your edits before you decide to delete them all. Seriously, it's going to far. That's why I took it here on the talk page. Explain it next time 1337gamer instead of edit warring! Sigh.... OMFG.... 🙄 2600:1000:B004:2927:D171:5CE4:1DEC:9F9F (talk) 23:08, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
History of issue
You are obviously not interested in listening to what anyone else has to say, yet you expect everyone else to take take your word as fact when you're just flat out wrong. Unfortunately for you, nobody here is stupid enough to side with you on your childish crusade. If you want to improve the article, then edit constructively, as I and other editors have already explained. --The1337gamer (talk) 18:18, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
@The1337gamer Well... I'm not surprised about this at all. About the way you acted and showed what you are for replying here, showing me your true personality on here on the site. Treating user like they are idiots and don't even know anything. Call me anything you want 1337gamer, your just being obnoxious and just hassle users like they are morons to you. Wikipedia is a site were edits add information and with sources to it, not just vandalize and hassle people like you do. Even though your a user on here it doesn't mean you should take out your frustration on us and call us childish names, you can't just have everything the way "YOU" want it on here. Not every article on here is yours, you don't own them. Anyway's, that's all I have to say about it, stop treating us like were idiots. You see 1337gamer, you shouldn't treat everyone on here as enemies too you. We don't hassle you, "YOU" hassle them just to get "YOUR" way. 2600:1000:B07C:1DA7:995B:D320:4D52:599E (talk) 02:52, 10 March 2017 (UTC)

Filmography proof
http://www.charlesmartinet.com/actor.html http://www.charlesmartinet.com/voiceover.html
It all says them right on his official website, of his live action roles and voice roles in his career. 2600:1000:B016:CCC7:C47:FC6A:B1F4:838E (talk) 14:27, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
- Well, I'm glad some primary source information is out there. I'd still love to see some secondary source discussion of Martinet's work. It would be really great for our article if we had some interviews with him, putting into context which roles were notable and such, so to speak. Right now, our article barely mentions his live action career at all, which is a shame. ~Mable (chat) 14:34, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
No offense, but what's a shamed? I don't get it? 2600:1000:B00B:7811:60EC:1DB6:A313:326F (talk) 14:38, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
But since I already know IMDb doesn't count as a source. But the site itself shows his live action roles as well. 2600:1000:B02D:98E7:4827:36C5:D69B:6EEC (talk) 15:15, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
- There's nothing to really say about these live action roles. We don't know how they relate to his work for Nintendo, and no reliable sources ever really mentioned them as far as I know. It seems really interesting to me, though, so I'm sad that there isn't really much we can add to the article... ~Mable (chat) 15:45, 9 April 2017 (UTC)

Mertinet himself actually stated he auditioned for the role of Mario in 1990, not 1994/1995. In the links here: http://www.realclearlife.com/technology/charles-martinet-voice-behind-nintendos-mario/, shows and talks about when he auditioned for the role, it says 1990. If someone can please fix that info in his "Career" section from 1994 to 1990, the part were it says "Working for Nintendo since 1994" fix to as "Working for Nintendo since 1990" and in the Info above too as well. He also stated it in an interview that can be see on YouTube here:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jcdIqTFgWRA, he stated in the video that he crashed the audition in 1990. 2600:1000:B03A:57E3:6402:806A:82DE:C0A2 (talk) 22:24, 2 July 2017 (UTC)

Thank you! There is also one final edit at the top article in that Ned's to be changed from 1995 to 1990. The part were it says "Martinet has voiced this title character of Nintendo's flagship video game franchise since 1995."2600:1000:B072:509F:54E0:9FB:9290:62D7 (talk) 01:01, 4 July 2017 (UTC)
First appearance dates don't add up
"Martinet's video game voice over debut was as Mario in the 1995 Windows release of Interplay's game Mario's FUNdamentals."
However, he is credited below for Mario Teaches Typing in 1992. --73.234.127.136 (talk) 20:14, 10 March 2018 (UTC)

One thing I recently noticed in his infobox, is that jos birth name is missing. Can someone please quickly fix it? Example "birth_name = Charles Andre Martinet". 2600:1000:B032:2E5A:D41C:63EE:47E5:6DCA (talk) 00:36, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- Not done the thing is, we can't verify that this was his birth date. Ill be happy to add this, but please provide a reliable source to reference your proposed change. Best, L293D (☎ • ✎) 00:48, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- Not done if his birth name is the same as his name stated at the start of the article, there is no need to include the birth_name variable in the infobox — IVORK Discuss 00:55, 10 April 2018 (UTC)

Under the "Career" section, there is a sentence: "In 2009, Martinet told That Gaming Site that wanted to voice Link in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time ... "
It should read "In 2009, Martinet told That Gaming Site that he wanted to voice Link in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time ..."
