editGianluca Cozzolino (born in Naples, November 17, 1972) is an Italian entrepreneur, known for founding the Ciaopeople group and the online news portal Fanpage.it, one of the leading news websites in Italy.[1][2] *Fanpage.it* has gained international recognition for its high-quality investigative journalism.[3] Currently, Cozzolino serves as the CEO of the group.
Biography
editGianluca Cozzolino was born in Naples on November 17, 1972. After completing his studies, he embarked on a career as a real estate agent, which he pursued from 1997 to 2002.
Career
editIn 2002, Cozzolino founded the web agency Nascar, specializing in digital solutions for companies. Two years later, in 2004, he launched qbr.it, an entertainment portal that gained some popularity in Italy.[4]
The turning point came in 2009 with the founding of Fanpage.it, which quickly became one of the leading news websites in Italy.
In 2011, Il Sole 24 Ore compared Cozzolino’s work to that of Mark Zuckerberg for his innovation in the digital media sector.[5]
Currently, Cozzolino is the founder and CEO of the Ciaopeople group, which manages some of the most followed digital projects in Italy:
- Fanpage.it: A news portal that combines investigative journalism, current events, and viral content, reaching millions of readers daily. The site is particularly known for its investigative division, Backstair, which has conducted impactful investigations such as Bloody Money, Lobby Nera, and Gioventù Meloniana.
* The *Backstair* team is recognized for its undercover work.[6] * The Bloody Money investigation received significant attention from the *Corriere del Mezzogiorno*.[7] * The Lobby Nera investigation was documented by *La Repubblica*.[8]
