Incorporation date dispute

edit

There is no historical proof that kittery was incorporated in 1647. Mass. bay colony didn't charter kittery until 1653. Before that the towns of the area didn't have perement borders by anything I have found other then overall grants. When Mass. bay colony came in they didn't incorperate the town of kittery because they didn't incorporate any town until the 1700's. I think the incorporation should say 1653 like the state of maine shows in its history. The probate court records of the time show the author writes that kittery must have made up the date. Many history books refer to a court of elections but there was no court in maine during that time. The records in kittery of that time have disappaered form the town so cannot look there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pete0028 (talkcontribs) 01:22, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

For what it's worth, there are two cited references listing 1647 as the date of incorporation, so if someone wants to describe this discrepancy in the article, just back it up with another citation. And yes, I am responding to a 12 year-old comment. --Dugan Murphy (talk) 23:28, 15 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Contradictory settlement dates

The narrative states 1623, but the banner at right states 1632. 2602:304:CDA6:51B0:B961:AC66:DF63:A27C (talk) 00:52, 10 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

It's been 5 years, but I just took care of that. --Dugan Murphy (talk) 23:24, 15 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
