Piano rock?

edit

Is this song really piano rock? I find it has more elements of Alternative Rock, Progressive Rock, or just Rock in general. Did whoever call it piano rock only do so because of the keyboard intro? Because after that there is almost no piano or keyboard. Just wondering if anyone agrees to change it to Alternative or something. Ka5hmir 20:53, 13 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Philip Glass?

edit

The piano opening is similar to Philip Glass' "Truman Sleeps" from The Truman Show, not sure if a source could be found for that observation. Maybe it's just the broken chords. The WP Haute Tension article states that both New Born and Philip Glass' Truman Show score appear in that film, but that may be an error based on the similarity, I'm not sure. Genre

edit

Rather than 3 genres in the infobox, the genre that better matches with this song is progressive metal, everybody listen to dream theater or rush if don't believe me (similar "degree of heavyness" imaginative lyrics and vocal style). user:Carnotaurus044 04/06/11 —Preceding undated comment added 04:50, 4 June 2011 (UTC).Reply
here is the introduction lines of the progressive metal article:
"Progressive metal (sometimes known as prog metal) is a subgenre of heavy metal, which blends the powerful, guitar-driven sound of metal with the complex compositional structures, odd time signatures, diverse philosophical lyrics and intricate instrumental playing of progressive rock. Many progressive metal bands are also influenced by jazz fusion and classical music. Like progressive rock songs, progressive metal songs are typically much longer than standard metal songs, and are often thematically linked in concept albums."

  • as is read here, they're like describing this song, so i'll put it up there.
