Cain Velasquez
editI reverted your changes to Cain Velasquez. WikiProject Mixed Martial Arts (the editors that work on MMA articles) have established that the "official record" is what Sherdog says. Also, MOS:AMP specifies that while ampersands can be used in tables, it has to be consistent across the table. Since there's only one place in that table to use an ampersand, there's no point in introducing it.
Please join WikiProject MMA as you help to improve our articles. There are a lot of formatting and content rules and they can point you to the ones they deal with most. Chris Troutman (talk) 15:31, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Please make sure to include an edit summary with every edit. Please provide one before saving your changes to an article, even if it is very brief, as the summaries are quite helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! Jim1138 (talk) 06:56, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
Adding future fights to the records tables of MMA fighters
editHello Chosen Um,
Thanks for all the work you're doing in MMA articles on Wikipedia -- there's always a lot that needs to be done. It's helpful to check out the project page at WP:MMA which has the community generated style guide. There you will see this bit when talking about the fighters' records table "Never add future bouts. The purpose of the record table is to provide a quick account of a fighter's past career, not to speculate about his/her future. Upcoming bouts that have been officially announced can only be mentioned within the body text at the end of the Mixed martial arts career section, provided that they are notable (covered by reliable third-party sources.)" I have noticed you have been adding future fights to these tables. I've hidden many of them for now and when the result is in that section can be unhidden and the result added in. If you have any questions or comments you can reach me on my talk page. Thanks, SQGibbon (talk) 23:21, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
Very sorry SQGibbon for giving you work, I totally forgot about that rule. It's not going to happen again. Chosen um (talk) 00:02, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
TUF fighters
editYep, the way it works is the finalists are always signed, and non finalist winners are always signed. With non finalist losers they are not guaranteed a UFC contact, so it's all up to the UFC if they get signed again or not. If they do it is annouced, if not they fight in other organizations. I fixed everything. Please do not undo the edits because last time legit edits were undone, we also don't want to be accused of an edit war either, and it's very easy to happen on Wikipedia. Best thing to do if you disagree with something is to discuss it on the talk page before editing, and use sources to back up your claim. Thanks. 173.169.18.87 (talk) 14:20, 13 December 2014 (UTC)
No problem fella. But there a lot of soucers stating that Invicta assigned the contracts of some of the fighters to UFC (http://www.mmafighting.com/2013/12/11/5202056/tuf-20-will-feature-all-womens-cast-crown-first-ufc-strawweight , http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2013/12/11/5201972/ufc-strawweight-tuf-invicta-contracts-first-champion-gadelha-esparza-calderwood-torres-mma-news , http://www.ufc.com/news/ufc-11-strawweights-join-from-invicta-tuf-20), so it's problably a different situation from the past TUF. But I'm not going to edit again, to not mess with other people work or edits. Cheers. Chosen um (talk) 14:26, 13 December 2015 (UTC)
- I'm sure Randa Markos and Bec Rawlings will be signed later, while those like Emily Kagan won't. But here is a list of those TUF non-finalist losers in limbo.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:List_of_current_UFC_fighters#TUF_Finale_Losers
Sometimes they do crazy things, like Roxanne Modafferi who was a big fan base was not re-signed while Wagner Silva who is kind of unknown from the Brazilian TUF was. Not all of TUF 20's cast was from Invicta either, because at the beginning I remember they had tryouts for a few girls. But thanks for helping and working with me my friend. I'm looking forward to UFC on Fox tonight. I got Dos Santos, who do you got? :D 173.169.18.87 (talk) 14:33, 13 December 2014 (UTC)
I got Dos Santos too, the guy is a killer, and I think they give him to Miocic too soon. Stipe should fight another top 10 (maybe Barnett or Arlosvki), to be build a little more before been thrown to the wolves. Miocic losing today is a little bad for the division, as we are not going to see a fresh face fighting for the title anytime soon. This card today is really good, the majority of UFC on Fox events are better than the PPV ones, and I'm excited to see Dos Anjos x Diaz. I'm a Diaz brothers fan, but I will root a 100% for Dos Anjos today, because he is from my hometown. I've seen him training many times years ago before he got signed by UFC. Augusto Montaño
editHey brother. If you are not busy, could you add in the table of fights for Augusto Montaño? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. WWE Batman131 (talk) 02:21, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
Oh, hello. No problem, leave it to me. (: Chosen um (talk) 02:25, 25 February 25 (UTC)
- Could you please do the same for Thomas Almeida? Thanks. WWE Batman131 (talk) 23:15, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
- Of course brother, I'm already editing :)
Chosen um (talk) 23:21, 1 March 25 (UTC)
- Hey brother, can you once again do your work with Ryan Benoit? Thanks. WWE Batman131 (talk) 16:36, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
Sherdog
editHey brother. Thanks for the help you've given me with the articles recently. I wanted to say that Sherdog's results aren't always accurate. For example, the Duffy finish. Sherdog said it was a KO punch to the body. Pretty weird, right? Also, the Rosholt finish. The elbows happened quite some time before the flurry of punches that stopped the fight. That is why I reverted the edit. WWE Batman131 (talk) 01:11, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
- Oh hello, brother. I didn't know you were the one doing the results for UFC 185 as I edited with my smartphone. Yeah, I strongly agree with you. There is someone on Sherdog that always list the body strikes (kicks, knees, punches, whatever) as KO (WTF for that), and sometimes only consider the body shot instead of the flurry of strikes. And I agree with your point of the Rosholt stoppage. I only changed because some admins on wiki are veeeery strict with this Sherdog thing, and probably one of them will change it later and say "blablabla the consensus is to follow Sherdog". As you are editing, we can make a point if some admin come to 'correct'. Cheers (: Chosen um (talk) 01:30, 15 March 25 (UTC)
Conor McGregor
editThat isn't the boxing commission, it is the atheltic commission that sanctions all combat sports in the state of Nevada. Sherdog does not commission UFC events. Sherdog can not rule a fight a TKO or KO. The NSAC does. They present the official record. I would say their record is the actual authority, considering they are literally the actual authority. Cheers. Frankie edgar 32 (talk) 16:16, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
I see your argument, but there is a point: the NAC does not make distinction between KO and TKO in the results of MMA bouts, they always rule stoppages by strikes as TKO. Just check other events held there and the records for fights like Thomas Almeida vs Brad Pickett or Stephen Thompson vs Jake Ellenberger.
In fact, this was discussed before, and is one of the biggest reasons why in Wikipedia we usually (not all the time) use Sherdog as main source, not the comission results. Cheers (: Chosen um (talk) 03:20, 16 March 23 (UTC)
Fair enough. However, it seems arbitrary to deem sherdog the official keeper of record. I think the Wikipedia should reflect the actual official record, instead of just being a mirror of sherdogs records. By merely being a mirror to sherdog, ultimately, we are still just deferring to the opinion of somebody with no real authority on the matter. I acknowledge I am in the minority with this view, so I will refrain from editing further. I suppose I will need to find other means of swaying people to the side of facts and truth. Cheers. Frankie edgar 32 (talk) 21:37, 24 March 2016 (UTC)
I understand your point, I'm also part of that minority, I don't think we should follow Sherdog in everything. Some of the guys on Sherdog that update the fight records make mistakes too, exemples are the result of Werdum x Miocic (that strike that knocked down Hunt was a flying knee, but the person who updated considered only a normal knee) and Belfort x Henderson 3 (the guy disconsidered the head kick that put Henderson down). I think the best way is to not follow blindfolded any source, but reaching a consensus (an exemple was the Cerrone x Dos Anjos 2 bout, Sherdog and other sources disconsidered the body kick in the fight record, but the editors here talked and we thought it was better to include the body kick). Anyway, always voice your opinion, is this kind of conversation that will make Wikipedia even better and accurate. Cheers Cheers (: Chosen um (talk) 02:09, 25 March 23 (UTC)
"Kick to the body"
editHey man, regarding that subject: Sherdog has been using that pattern for a long time. I found that odd at first, but got used to it. I remember clearly from Rockhold's win against Philippou on January 2014. Anyway, I used to add such names, but I've been following Sherdog on that ever since that fight I mentioned. Head kick has been used forever like that (including Sherdog), so it's different. We can all agree that Sherdog is a reference, not a rules website. They have results wrong sometimes, which are then adapted into Wikipedia. This case though is a little different. Just some insight here. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 05:19, 31 July 2016 (UTC)
Valeu! Hi Chosen Um, I have reverted both of your edits of the above pages. You have been informed 2 times prior to these edits of yours today. on why Sherdog.com method is chosen. This descriptive and kindly refrain yourself from doing so. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 01:30, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

editPlease stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Junior dos Santos, you may be blocked from editing. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 07:39, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi Chosen Um - Greetings. pls see [1] and [2] . Pls read Wikipedia:WikiProject Mixed martial arts - In the column Method, unless sources within the body text of the article state otherwise, always use the result that is available in a fighter's record at Sherdog Fight Finder. Do not use your interpretation of a fight result in the record, as the threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth. Any result that is not referenced or that is not the same as in Sherdog, must be returned to how it is described in Sherdog. You could propose the change of Wikipedia verifiable guidelines at Wikipedia:Village pump (proposals) to gain consensus, until then, pls do not change the "method" as you have been informed many times. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 07:45, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
