File:Aptn Asia-Pacific Telecentre Network.jpg and User:Shaakunthala/Asia-Pacific Telecentre Network
editThree times now [1][2][3] DashBOT has removed the image File:Aptn Asia-Pacific Telecentre Network.jpg from User:Shaakunthala/Asia-Pacific Telecentre Network. It is doing this because non-free images like this logo are not allowed to be used on pages outside of the main article namespace, per Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria item #9. I understand this is a development article. Nevertheless, such images are not permitted. I attempted to gain an exception to the policy for developing articles, but it was not accepted. See Wikipedia_talk:Non-free_content/Archive_44#Non-free_images_on_sandbox.2Fuserspace_developing_articles. If you're concerned about layout, you might consider using File:Example.jpg until you 'go live' with the development article to mainspace. Also, I retagged File:Aptn Asia-Pacific Telecentre Network.jpg as orphaned since it is in fact orphaned. I also modified the rationale which was an invalid rationale for userspace, to point to what I expect will be the mainspace article name. Lastly, I turned DashBOT back on as it was acting properly and in accordance with policy. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 12:51, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for your kind advice! It was, in fact, my fault. :-) --සමීර ශාකුන්තල | Sameera Shaakunthala 16:18, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
- Glad to be of service. Also, your particular case was a bit unusual. Dashbot, it appears, didn't inform you on your talk page about what it was doing (as it normally does) because of an apparent oversight. It doesn't inform editors who, at the time of removal, do not yet have a talk page. I informed the programmer of this bot about the issue. --Hammersoft (talk) 16:25, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Screenshot-AsiaPacificTelecentreNetwork.png
editThanks for uploading File:Screenshot-AsiaPacificTelecentreNetwork.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
PLEASE NOTE:
- I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
- I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
- If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.
- To opt out of these bot messages, add

- Just noted that. Thanks! සමීර ශාකුන්තල | Sameera Shaakunthala (talk) 11:31, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
Also it is a convention on motorcycling articles that things such as horsepower, torque, speed and fuel consumption should be properly sourced or not quoted. That is why I have deleted some unsourced content in various articles. --Biker Biker (talk) 11:55, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Take a look at Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. This is a key principle of Wikipedia - we don't write articles like they are adverts or brochures. Maintain a neutral style and always back things up with references. Do ask if you need advice/help. --Biker Biker (talk) 12:48, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
