Shalwar kameez

Salwar Kameez is Indian and Pakistani women's wear. It is the national dress for both men and women in Pakistan and Afghanistan. It's origin lies in Turkish language and Central Asia and is sometimes associated with the Islamic culture in the region. The Shalwar Kameez consists of the Kameez (top) and Shalwar (pant). The Shalwar is a sort of pyjama-like trousers. The Kameez is like the male kurta, a long, loose tunic. Along with the Shalwar Kameez, a dupatta is worn around the neck. The dupatta's manin function is o act as an alternative to chador, hijab, and burqa. It is doned in a fashion to cover parts of woman's body which are in accordance with Islamic cultural notions of a woman's modesty.
