Bigg Boss (Hindi TV series)

Bigg Boss is a reality television series aired on Indian television channel Sony Entertainment Television. The series started on 2006-11-03, and is based on the international Big Brother format developed by Endemol in the Netherlands.

Main Events

Salil Ankola in trouble with Balaji Telefilms

Salil on Thursday 9 November, 2006 was ordered by the Mumbai High Court, to immediately leave Endemol India production or face serious criminal charges. Under the terms and conditions of the agreement, he signed on June 2006 clearly stated that he was not allowed to act in television serials made by any other production house or channel that “directly or indirectly compete with Balaji Telefilms”.

On 10 November, Bigg Boss ordered him to leave the house, after a direct court order had been received by Endemol India from the High Court. By the time this was announced to him, he suggested that the contract that he had signed with Balji Telefilms was possibly illegal. This makes Salil Ankola the first controversial person in Bigg Boss and first to be evicted without a formal opinion poll.

Deepak Tijori replaces Salil Ankola

After the controversial eviction of Salil Ankola from the house, Endemol India and Set India decided to replace him with another contestant. On the 15th of November episode it was revealed that Deepak Tijori is the new contestant.

Rakhi Sawant brought back

After being evicted from the contest on the fourth week, she was again brought back by Bigg Boss into the house. This created a lot of controversy especially because she brought gifts for everyone in the house supposedly from their families but a lot of the house guests had trouble in believing her story. Some members like Ragini and Carol publicly criticised Rakhi for what they feel was a publicity stunt.

Baba Sehgal is the new contestant

As a major surprise, Baba Sehgal was added as another new contestant in the game. Baba made his name in the 90's as one of the first Indians to rap in Hindi and quite a few of his albums were commercial successes. This brings in a new twist in the game and it will be interesting to see how the house-mates adjust with Baba amidst the ongoing tension and cold war.

Although Baba had no serious troubles with anybody in the house but he was nominated in his 3rd week. Most of the contestants believe that it was not fair for Baba to come into the house after 60 days. Probably baba knew that feeling in the house, and he too admitted in front of arshad warsi (the host of the show) that he could have got an unfair advantage.
