Arrondissements of the Loire-Atlantique department

The 4 arrondissements of the Loire-Atlantique department are:

  1. Arrondissement of Châteaubriant, (subprefecture: Châteaubriant) with 10 cantons and 53 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 101,436 in 1990, and was 102,392 in 1999, an increase of 0.94%.
  2. Arrondissement of Nantes, (prefecture of the Loire-Atlantique department: Nantes) with 29 cantons and 82 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 649,039 in 1990, and was 715,358 in 1999, an increase of 10.22%.
  3. Arrondissement of Saint-Nazaire, (subprefecture: Saint-Nazaire) with 15 cantons and 57 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 254,322 in 1990, and was 267,796 in 1999, an increase of 5.3%.
  4. Arrondissement of Ancenis, (subprefecture: Ancenis) with 5 cantons and 29 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 47,386 in 1990, and was 48,720 in 1999, an increase of 2.82%.
