Youth & Young Manhood, was the debut album from Kings of Leon, released in August 2003.

The Kings of Leon, when they first emerged with their Holy Roller Novocaine EP, quickly became considered one of the indie scene's stand out bands.[citation needed] Their debut album, anticipated eagerly amongst their following,[citation needed] was praised by many critics; Rolling Stone magazine awarded it four stars and NME gave it 9 out of 10.However, Youth & Young Manhood seemed to divide music fans: while some appreciated the album's unique blend of southern rock and Strokes-influenced indie rock, others considered it dull and clichéd, and denounced Caleb Followill's distinctive vocals as being unintelligible.

"Molly's Chambers", "Red Morning Light", "Wasted Time" and "California Waiting" were all released as singles and "Red Morning Light" featured on the soundtrack to the game FIFA Football 2004.

Molly's Chamber's was used in a 2003 Volkswagen commercial, depicting a young couple dancing in their apartment (actually just jumping up & down). Apparently, they are making too much noise, because they are kicked out, and after finding a house, they load up their VW, and move into their new home, and are seen at the end of the commercial, jumping up & down, as Molly's Chambers plays throughout the ad.
