For anything I post on the zsync article on Wikipedia, I agree to license my contributions under the BY-SA 2.0 license. -- Antaeus Feldspar 01:43, 13 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Hi NSK.

I've put a "Licensing" notice on my User:Pedant17 page. Much as I admire the Wikinerds site, I remain bitterly opposed to any hint of commercialisation.

Regards, -- Pedant17 00:12, 15 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Hi. I would like to use Image:Chip300.jpg under the CC-By-SA-2 licence. Are you the copyright owner? Can you relicense this photo? I will use it on my site. Thanks, answer to my talk page. It's a great pic. NSK 02:05, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC)

The source and copyright information for Image:Chip300.jpg is carefully noted on the image description page. — Matt Crypto 08:40, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Sorry, that sounded a little terse — the copyright holder is the EFF themselves. I contacted them specially to get the image dual-licensed under the GFDL for Wikipedia, as well as their more normal "cc-by-nc"; you'd have to do the same to get them to license it under a third license. — Matt Crypto 08:55, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I don't license my Wikipedia images under commercially available licenses (except, of course, the GFDL). I would, however, be willing to take an equivalent photograph and license it under the cc-by-sa 2.0. I just don't want the same image from Wikipedia used in a CC license without nc. I'll take one today if I can. --Dante Alighieri | Talk 19:25, Feb 24, 2005 (UTC)

I've emailed you at your website with an image that I've released under the CC-by-sa 2.0, so let me know if it's useful for you. --Dante Alighieri | Talk 19:59, Feb 25, 2005 (UTC)

I changed the licenses on my photos. AdamRetchless 04:23, 25 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Crab Nebula

Here's the message from the Image Description page of the pic:

I assume that if you are using it for your own non-commercial website and you make a reference to its source (as I did) then you can use it. However since CC-By-SA-2 says "you are free to make commercial use of the work" then I don't see that that licence is applicable to the Crab Nebula pic because the owners say "may be reproduced for non-commercial purposes". Hi NSK. Great site you have there! Image:Seagate-ST-412-l.jpg is already available under a CC licence for non-commercial use. It's not immediately obvious to me if your site counts as non-commercial use or not, but no matter. Although I took that picture, it was part of my work and the image belongs to the business I work for rather than to me personally. The CC licence info on the image description page is actually a mistake - it should have been a "copyright Red Hill Technology, used here by permission" tag. Too late now: it can stand as-is. If your site counts as commercial, then you can use the image anyway, on a "by permission of" basis. A link back to www.redhill.net.au would be appreciated, but is not essential.
