Matt Rubano
Matthew Rubano (b. March 10, 1977) is the bassist of the American rock band, Taking Back Sunday.
Biography
He was born Matthew Anthony Rubano on March 10, 1977, in Baldwin, New York. He joined to replace Shaun Cooper, who left to form Straylight Run with John Nolan, also formerly of Taking Back Sunday. He was asked, by Mark O'Connell (drums), to come and audition because Matt and Mark were childhood friends. So, Matt auditioned and they decided it worked. He has played bass for other artists including Lauryn Hill's The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill. Matt was the bassist for fusion/jamband Schleigho for about one year, playing on the album "Continent". He also played bass in the musical Bat Boy. He once described Taking Back Sunday, classifying each of them uniquely as, "The Short Jew, (Matt Rubano), The Fat Guy(Eddie Reyes), The Long Haired Southerner(Adam Lazzara), The Old Guy(Fred Mascherino), and The Thug (Mark O'Connell).
Due to Adam Lazzara's obsession with swinging his mic, during the Give It A Name Festival in 2006, Matt suffered a blow to the head which knocked him to the ground. He was rushed backstage, bandaged up crudely, and rushed back out to finish the show. This event resulted in 6 stitches on the left side of his forehead. He said, "It felt like getting hit in the head with a golf club, or a baseball bat, or a truck". A shirt was then later released in commemoration of the accident. He forgave Adam Lazzara for hitting him in the head.
