Aki Jones (born May 21, 1982 in New York, New York) is an American football player who currently plays defensive end for the Washington Redskins. On January 27 2006, Jones was designated by the Redskins to NFL Europe's Frankfurt Galaxy.
High School and College Career
Jones was a graduate of Christ the King High School in New York and was an All-League, All-City, and All-Queens pick in football his senior year. He spent a year at Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Massachusetts, prior to attending Fordham University. He came to Fordham as a defensive lineman but was moved to offensive line when the line was hit with injuries, where he appeared in four games on the offensive line as well as special teams as a freshman. He appeared in all 13 games as a sophomore making 26 tackles, seven sacks and five tackles for a loss. As a junior, Jones played in all 12 games, starting 11. He finished the year with 34 tackles, 8.5 tackles for a loss and four sacks. He appeared in 10 games as a senior in 2004, starting all 10 en route to being named first team All-Patriot League and finished with 32 tackles, a team-high five sacks and six tackles for a loss.
NFL Career
Jones signed with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent in April 2005. In the 2005 season, he played in four games and had one tackle.
