Chinese American Bank (中美銀行) is a overseas Chinese bank in the United States. Headquartered in New York City, with branch offices in Chinatown, Manhattan and Flushing, Queens, this privately-held community bank was first established in 1967.
The bank was originally established to service the ethnic Chinese in Chinatown. As the number of the Chinese immigrants increased, Flushing became the largest ethnic Chinese community in the New York metropolitan area, surpassing even Chinatown, Manhattan. Following the flow the Chinese immigration, the bank opened its branch in Flushing, Queens.
Like most overseas Chinese Banks, the Chinese American Bank survives in the fierce competition by focusing on serving the local Chinese community instead of expanding nationwide and statewide.
