Simone Weil was born in Paris in 1909 of Jewish parents. She died in England in 1943 while serving the DeGaulle Free French movement. Weil was early preceived as a prodigal. She played Greek word games with her brother Andre, later a famous mathme- tician, before she was a teen ager.
