Arjun Rampal (Hindi, अर्जुन रामपाल, Arjun Rāmpāl, born 26 November 1972) is an Indian actor who appears in Bollywood films, as well as a fashion model.
Personal life
His parents are Gwen and Amarjeet Rampal. Arjun and his younger sister attended the prestigious Kodaikanal International School located in Palani Hills,Tamil Nadu, where his mother was a teacher. One of his cousins, Kim Sharma, is an actress and appeared with him in the film Yakeen. Arjun Rampal has done a lot for Charity, he is currently sponsoring 11 orphan children in an orphanage. He is married to Ex Miss-India Mehr Jesia. They have two daughters,Mahikaa, born on January 17, 2002 and Myra, born June 2005. [citation needed] Designer Rohit Bal hired him as a model after seeing him in a disco. He worked as a model for several years.
Career
His debut movie - Moksha was released in 2001 and was directed by Ashok Mehta. However, this film was released after his second film, Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat, in which he appeared with Sunil Shetty and Aftab Shivdasani. Although both films did not perform at the box office his performances in both films was lauded by critics. In 2002, he won the Award of the International Indian Film Academy for Face of the Year.
Since his debut, he has worked steadily in films such as Aankhen (2002) which was a success and unsuccessful films such as Dil Hai Tumhaara (2002), Yakeen (2005) and Darna Zaroori Hai (2006).
He has also appeared in the Temptations 2004 concert with stars Shahrukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta, and Priyanka Chopra.
His recent film releases were the multi-starrer Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna where he had a guest appearance and Don - The Chase Begins Again which is a remake of the 1978 Amitabh Bachchan starrer Don. Rampal donned the role of Jasjit which was played by Pran in the original movie. He got favourable reviews for his performance.
Recently, he has decided produce as well as act in the film I See You (2006) which released on December 29, 2006. He released it with his own production company Chasing Ganesha Films. His wife, Mehr Jesia, was the co-producer. The film received poor reviews and was a failure at the box office.
