Models of Communication
There are three moder communications models commonly used. The most basic is the linear model. It includes the following pieces of communication:
1. A sender- This is a person who encodes a message and sends the message to a receiver. A message is anything that contains symbolic meaning.
2. A receiver- This person decodes the message that the sender encoded to them. They are decoding the meaning contained in the message.
3. Noise- Noise is anything that affects how the receiver decodes a message or a sender encodes a message. A physical noise is any environmental noise such as a loud setting, a physiological noise is any biological factor such as being sick that could inhibit a sender or receiver, psychological noise are our assumptions and prejudices, and semantic noises are when encoded messages are worded in an unclear or unfair way.
4. Channel- The linear model recognizes that not every message is encoded in the same way. Some common channels by which messages are encoded are oral and written.
The interactive model builds on the linear model by adding feedback and fields of experience. The interactive model includes the four characteristics and introduces two more:
1. A sender
2. A receiver
3. Noise
4. Channel
5. Feedback- This means the receiver decodes the information and then becomes a sender, encoding a message back to the original sender.
6. Field of Experience- The field of experience recognizes that people’s backgrounds affect the way they decode information and what information they choose and have to choose from to encode to others.
The final and most encompassing model of communication is the transactional model. The transactional model includes all the aspects of both the linear and interactive models. However, it also recognizes communication as a transaction: this places an emphasis on what is being said (the content dimension) and how the communicators interact with each other (the relationship dimension). There are a few other changes as well. While the interactive model allows for senders to become receivers through feedback, with the transactional model it recognizes the communicators as sender-receivers; they can be fully both. To show all the aspects of the transactional model take this example:
A 16 year old daughter asks her mother if she can borrow the family car for a night to go get dinner and see a movie with some friends. The daughter is a sender when she first asks her mother for permission and is then a receiver when listening to her mother’s response. The channel by which they are communicating is oral. Some examples of noise may be that the daughter chooses to encode the message at a hectic time and loud place in hope of pressuring her mother to make a quick decision. This looks at the situation from the linear model but may not be the full extent of the communication.
If feedback and fields of experience are added into the equation a more expansive picture evolves. Looking at the same situation in the interactive model allows for the mother’s encoded response to her daughter’s message. She may say something along the lines of, “we’ll see, I need to talk it over with your father first.” This would be feedback. The mother’s field of experience may include a memory of the last time she let her daughter have the car and she got a ticket. The daughter’s field of experience may include knowledge of how many of her friends are allowed to drive. In some cases fields of experience can create conflict in the communication.
Finally, in the transactional model a complete picture of the communication can be obtained. The content dimension and the relationship dimension take into account the way the individuals communicate. In this situation the mother and daughter are in frequent communication, this may mean that they are less formal with each other and also shows how the two influence each other often. In the transactional model it allows for the daughter and mother to constantly be senders and receivers, perhaps occasionally interrupting one another throughout the dialogue. The mother may see that the daughter’s request is also a request for more power and control over her life that the mother may not be willing to give up, which may lead to the daughter being angry. The content dimension also adds in nonverbal communication. Even while listening and decoding the daughter may be sending and encoding messages to her mother by starting to cry, frowning, or folding arms in a defensive position.

Central Florida Noise Bands
Orlando and Tampa are somewhat cultural wastelands, but are also highly transient second-tier cities that allow for a simulcra of flotsam and jetsum of cultural references. Both cities are a like a post-modern, post-punk and sometimes seemingly post-apocalyptic epicenters for fresh sound noise music and free jam riff-ery. See bands like Dead/Bird, Haves and Thirds, Byron House, Hepatitis Youth and What's Yr Damage?
American Liberative Party
This party was envisioned on March 18th, 2007, by two gentlemen. The names of these men are Alex Kottenstette (pronounced Cotton Steady) and Sonny Powell. They were tired of the lies, evils, and general degradation of American society. A difference is thought to be needed in America today in this party, many times people will say, something must be done, however, not many actions are taken to do this.
This party was not created to be and an extremist group, nor a group of anarchy, this party is a party of the goodwill of society, keeping it good, and making it better.
Basing for the Party
Some of the ideas for the party are as follows
Sanctity of Human Life
All human life is sacred and needs to be revered as so. Cold Blooded Killings, Rapes, and Child Abuses and much more are severe hindrances to the sanctity, and thus, will be dealt with accordingly.
Liberty
Religious freedom is involved with this party's ideas. One Can be Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Mormon, and many more, as long as the conduct of the religion do not directly hurt a human being. Ex. Human Sacrifice- any religion sect that conducts this, or any other act, is illegal.
The party is capitalistic, in a way that the people that work hard are rewarded, the lazy are not. Taxes are known to be needed in a capitalistic environment, but a way to have less taxes, are in thought, as in eliminating income tax.
For people who cannot work, money will be delivered so they can live a comfortable life. Social Security ideas are in thought as to be effective, so what you put in, comes back as more in retirement.
Still In construction
This party is still in baby stage, and the founders of the American Liberative Party are still working to create a better core idea for the party.
- Much more information will be added in the coming weeks.
