List of national parks of China
In the People's Republic of China, the term "National Park" has never been officialy introduced. However, there are several kinds of institutions that function as national parks, such as National Natural Resrved Maintained by the Environmental Protection Department, and Important National Tourism Spots (The Translation to English is National Park of China) granted by the China National Tourism Administration.
In August 2000, the Land & Resources Department set up a new system of National Reserve, which is named "National Geologic Parks". These Parks are the potential candidates to or ones of the UNESCO's Biosphere Reserve & World Heritage. The parks also serve as the study field for the International Geoscience Programme.
