Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,675 km² (647 mi²). 1,645 km² (635 mi²) of it is land and 30 km² (12 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.78% water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 3,759 people, 1,540 households, and 1,031 families residing in the county. The population density is 2/km² (6/mi²).
