FEMSA
Fomento Económico Mexicano, S.A. is a company based in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. The company is generally known as FEMSA.
FEMSA is divided into four main business segments. Beer, soft drinks, convenience stores and other.
FEMSA Cerveza (Cerveza is Spanish for beer) is the brewer of Tecate, Carta Blanca, Superior, Sol, Dos Equis, Indio, Bohemia, Noche Buena, and other beer brands. It is the second largest brewer in Mexico. Its products are exported throughout the world.
Coca-Cola FEMSA is 45.7% owned by FEMSA. It is second largest bottler of Coca-Cola in the world.
FEMSA Comercio is the operator of the OXXO chain of convenience stores in Mexico. It has 3,200 stores and 550 smaller "deposits", making it the largest such chain in Latin America and the 20th largest such chain in the NAFTA zone. In Mexico it is ordinary for such stores to carry only one brand of most products, thus OXXO carries only Coca-Cola soft drinks and FEMSA beer products. OXXO accounts for 4% of FEMSA beer sales.
The other businesses are the packaging divison, which makes beverge packaging and commercial refrigerators, and the logistics division, which distributes the products.
The company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and on stock exchanges in Mexico.
